We stayed here over the Labor Day weekend and had our best RV trip all year. The campground is a bit off of the beaten path but is worth the trip. Nice size and well equipped sites and VERY quiet. The owners are all family and were there every day. They were some of the friendliest hosts we have ever had... they would always stop and chat whenever we saw them. Very nice shaded playground and very clean and well kept pool. Office/store has almost anything you need including a cafe with home-cooked food. They also have a very large pavilion building where they hosted a excellent band on Saturday night. I would give this CG a 10 if they had WiFi. We have already booked back-to-back weekends for next year...

First off, I must say that I really like this park. It is very quiet with some nice mountain views and the sites are roomy and not real close together. It is convenient to almost everything in the Luray area. However, my problem with the campground is the way it is managed. We have stayed here twice and both times have had problems with the office. The first time, the owner would not honor my Good Sam or AAA discount because it was a holiday weekend. The second time, I reserved 2 particular sites on a Monday and was told by the owner that they were mine. However, when we got there, the one site was unavailable and my in-laws were forced to stay on a site away from us for one night and then move to the site on the other side of ours (not the one we originally booked) for the second night. When I inquired about why the site I booked on Monday was not available on Friday, she said that she could not ask the guy in the Class A that was currently on the site to move. But, she had no problem asking my father-in-law to move his trailer which is a lot more work. So, basically, if you book a site (or a group of sites) at this campground just know you are guaranteed a site in the park and not the particular one you asked for. And, if you have a Good Sam, FMCA or AAA membership, don't expect to get the discount on any holiday weekends (even though their website lists no exclusions). This could be a great campground if it were properly managed...

A nice, small campground that is convenient to most area attractions. We enjoyed the pool, mini-golf and river views. Our only disappointment as far as camping was the sites in the back that we had booked were a mudhole due to a lot of rain the day before we arrived. So, we got stuck out in the front part of the campground next to a couple pop-ups with noisy kids until 11:30P the first night. The bad part, however, was that my wife's family stayed in the adjoining motel and found it needs a LOT of work. The mattresses were so old, they had stripes on them and sagged in the middle even when not being used. They have no A/C and if it's hot like it was when we visited, the ventilation is very poor. They woke up one morning to find no hot water and had to take cold showers. In summary, a decent campground and a terrible motel...

This is the second year in a row that we have been to this KOA for Halloween weekend and we have already made reservations for next year. We really enjoy all of the activities they offer for the kids (trick-or treating, hay rides, etc.), and the adults (pig roast and band on Saturday night). Some sites are very short or have the hookups situated so that you will need extensions for everything. We had a bit of trouble situating our hybrid trailer on site 19 so that we could get hooked up and wouldn't be blocking the road with our bunkouts or awning. The kids enjoyed feeding the many rabbits that roam the property. Oh, the campground sits down in a valley so forget TV reception and take along some movies for the kids.

We camped here with 2 other families and we all said we would come back again. We had sites in the all-year section (CT-1-16) which is located by the pool & playground. The sites there were very level and each one has a nice pavilion but they are very close together (there was less than 10' from the back of my trailer to the back of the neighbor's trailer and my slideout was less than 2' from the pavilion for the next site) and there are no fire rings for those sites. Instead, there is a group fire area down by the horseshoe pits. We will request different sites next time. Some other comments about the staff being rude were totally unfounded by our group. In all of our interaction with the staff, they were nothing but friendly and helpful. One family in our group stayed in a cabin; I was very impressed at how complete it was (cable TV, full bath and kitchen) and it's cleanliness. The snack bar had good prices and good food. Overall, the campground is very large and is pretty nice, not the best kept in some areas but they have lots of activites. We really enjoyed the driving range!
