Kings Bay Resort, Champlain, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

First of all the campground is right on Lake Champlain and is a diamond in the rough! The grounds are beautiful with all new wiring, electrical boxes, water lines, etc... The campground has a beautiful pool and clubhouse. This campground has all the makings of a great campground! Now for the not so good. This campground has 177 sites of which 173 sites were vacant. We made reservation for this campground 3 weeks prior to our stay as we would be making a stop here returning from a long road trip. We were told that there would be plenty of room and the were not able to accept a deposit at the time because they did not have a credit card machine. Upon arrival we entered the campground and was very surprised at how empty the campground was for the middle of August. When I tried to go to the office, the door was locked and there was no sign on the door or anything. I walked around the clubhouse trying to find a door that was unlocked and there were none. I waited a minute as there was a person mowing the lawn and asked me if I had a reservation. He made a phone call and was told to allow me to select any site that I wanted. My wife and I selected the a waterfront property and were told the owner would be back later on. When the owner finally showed up I went to settle my bill. I was also surprised that the owner had very limited english and I had to revert to my french in order to communicate with her. The owner informed me that I had selected a lakefront site and my fee was 70 for the night. I told her that I did not agree with the fee and that there was no cable or wifi on the site and the park was empty. I also mentioned that no one told me the fee structure of the sites as no one was there to check me in etc... Nonetheless I paid the 70 and only stayed 1 night. This place might be a diamond in the rough but it will not see my camper again anytime soon. We camped at Kings Bay Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Camping La Tuque, La Tuque, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground! The campground had 2 pools! The interior roads are paved and some of the roads are a little tight. We had a very nice patio site along the lake and all hookups were at the rear of the site. Need to be careful as there was an overhead wire that that hit my antenna. The hookups worked well. Wifi was inconsistent. Laundry room was good and had good machines. I might also mention that if the wind blows in the right direction you will get a nasty air mass from the factories that are in town (not the campgrounds fault). We camped at Camping La Tuque in a Travel Trailer.

Camp Hither Hills, Ottawa, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the rear of the campground with a patio. Did not get to enjoy sitting out as the mosquitos were really bad. Looked like a newer section of the campground. We were given an escort to our site upon arrival. The site was very big and had plenty of room for the trailer and my truck. The hookups were easy to get to and we're in good working order. We would have liked a handout about things at the campground and perhaps a small list of rules. It appears that it is acceptable to leave barking dogs in RV's when no one is there all day long. Although WiFi is available we found some instances when we could not get online. They do have pool in the front of the campground. We camped at Camp Hither Hills in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Jardin De Mon Pere, Saguenay, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Great park in the Saguenay suburbs of La Baie. Check in was very easy as I speak French. Might be a little challenging for non French speaking people. Campground feels a little tight. The interior roads are in good conditions, just some of the corners are narrow for big rigs and long trailers. We stayed on site 610A which is a back in site and quite large however there is no privacy between the campers. The hook-ups are at the very rear of the site and in good working order. WiFi is available on site, but is intermittent at best and is a little slow. The pool is very clean and has a lifeguard on duty. They have activities for the kids and putt putt golf onsite as well as a small restaurant and store. We camped at Camping Jardin De Mon Pere in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Bon Desir, Grandes-Bergeronnes, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is very easy to get to. We stayed in the A section of the campground and felt a little isolated from the rest of the campground. We did not have a good view of the river like they do in section b. The bugs were really bad on this site. We needed plenty of bug spray. Sites were very large but not level. It took a few blocks to level the trailer. The hook ups were in the middle of the site and worked well. We also did laundry on site and had to figure out the working machines from the the broken ones. Although WiFi is advertised, it never worked for us. Would have rated higher if they had a swimming hole or pool at the campground. We camped at Camping Bon Desir in a Travel Trailer.

Le Genevrier, Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Very large campground with nice sites throughout. Check in was a tad confusing. You need to go through the gate into the parking area and then you need to walk back to the gate to check in. Not very efficient and often causes a backup trying to get into the campground. Aside from that, the campground has a swimming area and activities. Our site was in the open with very limited shade but we are finding that to be the norm up here. Power and sewer were at the back of the site and were in good working order. We camped at Le Genevrier in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Cap-a-la-Roche, Deschaillons-sur-Saint-Laurent, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

So the only thing this campground is missing is either a swimming pool or access to the water for swimming. The campground is right along the water offering great views. The sites are pretty much open and do not offer much privacy or shade. The hookups were positioned in the middle of the site and worked very well. We camped at Camping Cap-a-la-Roche in a Travel Trailer.

Camping de Compton, Compton, Quebec

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Campground was very nice. Our site was quite large but open. There was no privacy in between the sites. All the hook-ups were in the back of the site. Just make sure you have long hoses and you will be all set. They have 2 pools. 1 that is heated and the other is not. They were both very clean. We camped at Camping de Compton in a Travel Trailer.

Woodland Acres Campground, Brownfield, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Let me begin by stating that we arrived 55 minutes early and were charged 5.00 to check in early. Not the best way to make a first impression. Aside from that, check in went well. We stay on site 3 and found a level site. The hook-ups were easy to reach and at the mid point of the site. We did not have AT&T Cell service at the campground and only had wifi near the office. We did catch a few over the air channels during our stay. There is a very nice pool on site and the Saco river to go swimming. You can rent canoes and kayaks on site. They also charge you a ramp fee if you have your own canoe or kayak. We camped at Woodland Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Green Mountain Family Campground, Bristol, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A small and simple campground! Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner and he checked us in. He also gave us a guide to our site where he provided a 50 to 30 amp adapter for our site. The hook-ups were easily accessible on the site. The water pressure was good and so was the power. Wifi really worked well on our site. There is a small pool that did the trick after we set up. Although we did not use the facilities we did take notice on there cleanliness. We camped at Green Mountain Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bayley's Camping Resort, Scarborough, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here during Heroes Weekend where they show appreciation to teachers, fire, EMT etc... Campground is very large and the amenities are awesome. A true resort campground! Site 410 was a large flat back-in site. The pedestal was easy to reach as was the sewer. Electricity had sufficient power and the water pressure was great. Cable did not deliver the strongest signal as some channels did not work in the coach. We will take advantage of the off season rates at this beautiful place. We camped at Bayley's Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Crown Point Camping Area, Perkinsville, Vermont

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Overall a nice rustic campground. We were given an escort to our site upon arrival (nice touch). This campground is in the middle of the woods with large wooded and private sites. Hookups were easy to get to and located in the middle of the site. Water had sufficient pressure. 30amp power was not 30amp and kept tripping my surge protector. I could not run my AC and other items at the same time. Message on the device kept reading L1 was low.

Although they have rules listed on their literature, it very clear that they do not enforce them. Dogs are often left unattended at sites and often bark constantly. Upon leaving the campground we had to find our way out. There were low lying wires that needed to be lifted with a stick in order for the trailer to fit under. I might also suggest that the campground widen and clear some of the branches near the dump station. There is also a man made pond at the campground for swimming, but I would not go swimming in that water. We camped at Crown Point Camping Area in a Travel Trailer.

Atlantic Oaks Campground, Eastham, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Considering other campgrounds on the cape, I guess 60.00 is a good rate in the off season. This is a no frills campground, has many pull thru sites and is big rig friendly. Our site was mostly shaded and with FHU. Water pressure was good, electricity ran without any problems, as well as the cable. Sewer was well placed in the middle of the site. The wifi worked great as well as the AT&T service. This campground is easy to get to and offers a close proximity to key parts of Cape Cod beaches, and other areas. We camped at Atlantic Oaks Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Goose Hollow Camp & RV Park, Thornton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no frills campground and is conveniently located near Waterville Valley. Most Sites are on gravel or grass and are a little tight not leaving you much room. The water spigot was very far away. Good thing I had a 50 foot hose with us. The electrical post was conveniently located at the mid point of the site. There was wifi but spotty at best. Our AT&T phones did not have any service. We were a little surprised at the # of rules on their sheet and the amount of rules that addressed unhappy campers. Really made us think that we should not have stayed here. Perhaps rude and unhappy campers should be addressed individually and as to not scold all the campers upon arriving. We camped at Goose Hollow Camp & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Saco River Camping Area, North Conway, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large but segmented campground. They have 2 separate portions of the campground. We were in the section that was closest to the main field as you enter the park. None of these sites have full hook-ups, but they do have 20/30/50 amp, water, and cable (No sewer :( ). The other section that is closer to the river appeared to have many full hook-up sites. We camped the last weekend (Columbus Day Weekend) of the season. Check-in was easy and the staff were very helpful in the process. The campground was in preparation to close down for the season so there was minimal amenities. We stayed in site 236 which was a pull-thru site. The electrical, water, and cable post was at the rear of the site. You will need a fairly long hose and power cord. The electricity was sufficient and the water pressure was great. I did use the shower in the bath house ($.25 = 5 minutes). The shower was clean, but the bathroom could have used cleaning. We will be sure to camp here in the future.
