Atlantic Oaks Campground, Eastham, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Considering other campgrounds on the cape, I guess 60.00 is a good rate in the off season. This is a no frills campground, has many pull thru sites and is big rig friendly. Our site was mostly shaded and with FHU. Water pressure was good, electricity ran without any problems, as well as the cable. Sewer was well placed in the middle of the site. The wifi worked great as well as the AT&T service. This campground is easy to get to and offers a close proximity to key parts of Cape Cod beaches, and other areas. We camped at Atlantic Oaks Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Goose Hollow Camp & RV Park, Thornton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no frills campground and is conveniently located near Waterville Valley. Most Sites are on gravel or grass and are a little tight not leaving you much room. The water spigot was very far away. Good thing I had a 50 foot hose with us. The electrical post was conveniently located at the mid point of the site. There was wifi but spotty at best. Our AT&T phones did not have any service. We were a little surprised at the # of rules on their sheet and the amount of rules that addressed unhappy campers. Really made us think that we should not have stayed here. Perhaps rude and unhappy campers should be addressed individually and as to not scold all the campers upon arriving. We camped at Goose Hollow Camp & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Saco River Camping Area, North Conway, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large but segmented campground. They have 2 separate portions of the campground. We were in the section that was closest to the main field as you enter the park. None of these sites have full hook-ups, but they do have 20/30/50 amp, water, and cable (No sewer :( ). The other section that is closer to the river appeared to have many full hook-up sites. We camped the last weekend (Columbus Day Weekend) of the season. Check-in was easy and the staff were very helpful in the process. The campground was in preparation to close down for the season so there was minimal amenities. We stayed in site 236 which was a pull-thru site. The electrical, water, and cable post was at the rear of the site. You will need a fairly long hose and power cord. The electricity was sufficient and the water pressure was great. I did use the shower in the bath house ($.25 = 5 minutes). The shower was clean, but the bathroom could have used cleaning. We will be sure to camp here in the future. We camped at Saco River Camping Area in a Travel Trailer.

Branch Brook Campground, Campton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

It has been almost 10 years since the last time we stayed at this campground. We have noticed some improvements, but there is so much more that they can do to make this place great. We stayed on site 12 which was a tree lined site close to the ball field. We did notice that the site had tree berries all over our site, picnic tables, etc... The power was sufficient and easy to get to. The water faucet was on the ground and was a little difficult to connect my water filter to and the pressure was a little low. The sewer outlet was slightly elevated and made for more work during discharge. We were able to get Wifi as well as At&T service at our site. The campground is well spread out and sites for all types of camping. All of the interior roads are dirt (dusty) and have significant pot holes. We camped at Branch Brook Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Potter's Place Campground, Lebanon, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

I feel that a 6 accurately depicts this campground. There were some positives and negatives to the campground. The campground does provide free firewood (nice benefit) and was only 27.00 per night before taxes. There are a variety of sites, seasonal, tent, and rv sites. We were given an escort to our site and told that if we could not back into our site they would use a tractor to park the camper. Most of the rv sites are spacious, however the site that we were given was very tight for my 30 foot travel trailer. I was able to back my trailer into the site and I did need to prune a few branches as they were up against my trailer. The pedestal was at the very back of the site, which means you need a long hose for both water and a power supply. The water pressure was very low but the electricity worked well. No sewer, wifi, or cable on the site. I did manage to get a few channels on the antenna. I did not use the shower in the trailer as the water pressure was to low and decided to use the restroom in the campground. However, I feel that the shower really could use a more thorough cleaning. Aside from the fact that this is an adult campground, that does not need to mean there should be absolutely nothing to do. Labor day weekend, you would think some campground activities would be on the schedule for people to participate in. We camped at Potter's Place Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Griffon, Gaspe, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Another absolute GEM! The only reason it is not a 10, there was no pool. This campground is set on the banks bordering the Gulf of St. Lawrence and is only 20 minutes to Forillon National Park. The staff were excellent and made an effort to speak english while making our reservation and when we arrived. The campground has a variety of campsites for every camping need. We stayed 4 nights and had a large pull thru site (#39) which had trees on both sides of the site offering privacy and shade. The hookups were positioned in the middle of the site making for easy access. We had a 30amp service which was excellent as was the water pressure. The sewer was tricky to find at first as it was hidden by the trees and brush. The campground offered solid Wifi connection. The grounds were very clean and well maintained. Although we did not go swimming, there is a long staircase that descended to the water front where there is a rocky beach. We did use the laundry facilities during our stay (1.50 wash and 1.50 to dry). The campground also has a shelter/ room where people could hang out or do dishes etc... We camped at Camping Griffon in a Travel Trailer.

Wilderness Edge Campground, Millinocket, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has new owners (excellent hosts) who has been making improvements throughout the season. With that said, this campground still needs some work to make it great. All of the roads are gravel and in pretty rough shape. You will need to go slow and be careful with the holes and rocks. We stayed in site 8 which was private as it faced the forest, but it was not set up properly. The electrical post and water were on the wrong side of the camp site. Not to mention that I had to park parallel to the road as my 30 foot trailer did not fit in the site as a back-in site. (Many of the sites on this stretch of the campground had the same set up and campers were parked in the same manner). The electrical outlet was upside down, which did not allow me to plug in my surge protector. This would be a simple fix and should be one of the items to be changed. Be sure you have a long electrical cord and a long hose as you will need to pull it under your camper in order to reach the hook-ups. The bathroom and the grounds were clean. The pool was nice and refreshing after our hike in Baxter State Park. I might return to this campground in a few years once some of the improvements are made. We camped at Wilderness Edge Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Pokemouche, Pokemouche, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00

This is a large campground with many different sites. Interior roads were all paved. We were given an escort to our site. We stayed at this campground for 2 nights. We were in an open field on site 256. We were placed among many seasonal campers. Our site was very tight in every direction. Our fire ring was 15 feet away from the people behind us and we could hear people in the site next to us while we were in our camper. The post was well positioned in the middle of the site. Power and water was sufficient and the sewer was easy to reach. The campground does have wifi, but it is very intermittent at best. Our site was near a camper who left his dog out and it barked all night long. I finally had to tell the person that people around did not appreciate the fact that his dog was barking while he was away. The campground was a buzzing all day as they were celebrating Acadia Day. This made for a very loud evening and it appeared that the staff did not make any attempts of quieting down the folks after quiet hours. We camped at Camping Pokemouche in a Travel Trailer.

Cavendish Sunset Campground, Cavendish, Prince Edward Island

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very large campground that is broken into many areas. We found the campground to be clean and well maintained. The campground is close to many of the attractions in the Cavendish Area. We stayed in section F which is a large open field. There is no bathrooms or showers in this section of the campground. Many of the tree lined sites do not have 3-way hook-ups. Our first site #37 was not very level. No matter which way I put our 30 foot trailer, I could not get it leveled. I went back to the office and asked for a different site and they gave me 3 other sites to pick from. So ended up picking site 30. This site was all grass and was level for the most part.

The way the sites are positioned, you are sharing a post with your neighbor, leaving the other side (door) facing your neighbors site. There is little to no privacy. The hook-ups were in the middle of the site and were easily accessed. I needed all of 2 hoses to reach the sewer. Power was sufficient as was the water pressure. The site did have cable but you need to have a coupler in order to use their cable. We did not have one!

It appears that open camping is the norm in PEI for larger trailers and big rigs. Many of the other campgrounds appear to be out in the open as well. The campground has a rec. hall and pool. We did not use the pool as it was often filled with kids. We camped at Cavendish Sunset Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Aux Pignons Verts, Les M├ęchins, Quebec

Overall Rating:

This campground would have a higher rating if were not for being so close to the main road. Traffic especially the trucks are quite loud in this area. Sites are in an open field with very few trees. Some of the sites are very close to each other. However when it comes to customer service, there is none better. The owner/ host was right there to help you with whatever you needed. The wifi worked great, the hook-ups were easy to get to. This stop was for 1 night on our way to Gaspe Area. We camped at Camping Aux Pignons Verts in a Travel Trailer.

Camping Transit, Levis, Quebec

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I cannot believe that no one has mentioned that this campground is along side AutoRoute 20. Our site was 196 and we were right along side the highway. Very loud traffic noise!!! Request not to be at the end of the campground. Aside from that the campground was very convenient to get to. We had a level pull thru site where the hookups were positioned in the middle of the site and easy to access. We had a good amount of space between sites. The tower had a weird set-up where the faucet was really close to the power source. So close I was not able to plug in my surge protector. The power seemed to be fine as was the water pressure. The internet was sporadic at best. The rest of the campground was clean. They have a nice pool to cool down in, and a variety of recreation hall, etc. There is a small store and restaurant on property. They also offer a free shuttle to the ferry into Quebec City. We found it was just easier to drive to the ferry and pay for parking than be tied to their schedule. We camped at Camping Transit in a Travel Trailer.

Point Sebago RV Resort, Casco, Maine

Overall Rating:

This a great campground! The campground has spacious and private sites. The staff member that checked us in really did not know specifics about the campground, directions to our site, event tickets to the Blues Festival etc.... The site had 50 or 20 amps. I had to go to the office to get a 50 to 30 amp converter ($20 deposit). The first converter was faulty and needed to get a replacement. The hookups are at the very back of the site and the sewer pipe was about 2 feet off the ground and made for a tricky discharge. The amenities at the campground are excellent and the lake/ beach was enormous! We will be returning to this campground in the future! We camped at Point Sebago RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

An absolute gem! This was our second visit to this campground. We were way in the back of the campground in a very quiet part of the campground. The hook ups and easy to get to. The amenities are spectacular and the staff were very friendly. My only minor complaint is that they need to put a speed bump at the bottom of the hill near our site. Vehicles travelled pretty fast as they came down the hill. We will look to stay here again in the future! We camped at Normandy Farms in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Champagne Campground, Randolph Center, Vermont

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Campground with a view! This campground is set on top of a hill and about 1.3 miles from Route 89 (no highway noise whatsoever). We were on site E over looking the valley (what a view)! The campground check-in was efficient, the staff were very nice and even walked me over to my site as were close to the office and rec hall. The sites are immaculate and mainly all grass sites. I never felt that we were crowded even though we had neighbors. The pedestal was easy to get to and positioned in the middle of the site. Power was sufficient as was the water pressure and cable hook up. Sewer was more to the back of the site and I needed an extension hose to reach it. We had a wifi pole practically on our site which made connecting to the internet very easy.

Our only issue with this campground was the lack of swimming area. They do have a lake/ pond, however after walking in a few feet the bottom was quite muddy and the smell was not very pleasant. At that point we decided to not to go swimming. We camped at Lake Champagne Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Northampton / Springfield KOA, Westhampton, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

I must say this campground is way off the beaten path, 8 to 10 miles from the freeway and not much around the campground. This was our first time staying at a KOA and I thought KOA was meant higher standards. This campground itself is run down. The roads are very narrow and could stand to have a few trees removed. It appears that they have had several wash outs as the roads could use a scrape. Once we arrived at our site 55 we had a fairly large site that was all gravel. The pedestal was positioned in the middle of the site. The power was adequate as well as the water pressure. The sewer was at the end of the site in which I needed to use 2 hoses in order to reach. Although they advertise WIFI, that is only available at the office. I guess I cannot forget to mention that why have rules when you do not make your seasonal resident abide by them. The rules say no motorized vehicles, yet several full timers have quads, motorcycles etc... We were given a gate key upon check in but every time we came back to the campground the gate was left open (even at 11pm). All in all the campground did the trick so that we could visit the Big E fair (40 minutes away). We will not return to this campground. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.
