Serenity Stables and RV Park, Auburn, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a plain Jane RV park. Sites are close for the most part. The actual address city is Waverly, but it is not an acceptable city for this review for some reason. Sites are gravel. Monthly rate is currently $400. Owner friendly and helpful. There are stables, so you can bring your horse. Walking paths and a lake. It is very quiet. Was also told that the web site of www.rvandstables.com was not correct, but it worked for me. Shopping within two miles or so. We camped at Serenity Stables and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Bay RV Park & Grand River Casino, Mobridge, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

The park is 1.1 miles east of the Bay Casino on the south side of the hwy. You will first see a wayside and the next right turn takes you to the C store, but you turn left immediately to get the pay station just past the boat ramp. West bound it will be the first left turn past the bridge.

There is 50/30 power which was just updated. Water is available at the dump station as you come into the sites. There are also some faucets in the park which everyone uses to fill their tanks. The restrooms are dated, but cleaned several times a day. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The sites are large and well maintained. Some firepits are available. Best to have reservations during the summer. Lots of seasonal tenants. Will stay here again.

If you need mobile RV repairs, highly recommend Hoff's in Mobridge 605-845-3248. We camped at The Bay RV Park & Grand River Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a flock of turkeys which roam the CG. Lots of folks feed them and they are fun to watch. Lake Oahe is noted for its fishing. You can fish from the CG shore (license required).

You are in Mountain time west of the bridge across the Missouri and in Central time east of it. Mobridge is an hour ahead of the CG.

Fountain of Youth RV Park, Thermopolis, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

we stayed here a month. We have visited here off and on over the last 19 years and were so disappointed to see its present condition. Made reservations, but were told they didn't have them--this story was told to many of the visitors I talked to over the month. Usually the CG is nearly full all the time with folks staying a month or the summer to enjoy the water.

About cried when we saw the condition of our site. Dried out foxtails and tall weeds. Anyone bringing a pet here should google "foxtailes can kill your dog" to see what to do to protect your pet. Not much maintainace going on here. They owners had fired the grounds keeper. Lawn is only water at the entrance and in front of the owners' house which they spend all their time remodeling. The pool was only cleaned twice in the month we were there, They have no printed CG rules and people let dogs and kids wander everywhere. The CG was never full. even over 7/4. Don't think we'll ever come back. We camped at Fountain of Youth RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Extremely slow check-in and we had reservations. We had space 109. Suggest avoiding spaces 75, 109 and 110 as you get to enjoy fumes from the sewage farm. Had three minor maintenance problems and they were immediately fixed. Friendly work campers. We camped at Rancheros de Santa Fe Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Casa Malpais Campground and RV Park, Springerville, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

10 miles north we lost a wheel. Called and was told if we could get there, a spot would be saved for us. Owner got us in touch with mechanics and took me to see them in his car.

Everyone was helpful and friendly. Were invited to the park Halloween party. Owner gave us the month rate although we stayed less. If you have to have troubles, this is the place. We camped at Casa Malpais Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Twin Falls County Fair, Filer, Idaho

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice county fairground park. Need to check for events. Level back-in sites. At least 25% of sites have sewer in addition to power and water. During low use times, folks just park lengthwise instead of backing in. Office is building just right of entrance to grounds signed by "Twin Falls County Fair". Staff is helpful. About seven miles to Twin Falls. We camped at Twin Falls County Fair in a Fifth Wheel.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

They gouge you for everything. We reserved a pull thru premium site with 50 amps. On top that fee they charged $2/day/dog and a "resort fee" of $8.00/person. For this amount we got a site on a double hill, fore and aft and side to side. We didn't have enough blocks to make it near level. They have tree branches which rub you rig on the way into the site at the top of the access road. Just watched a neighbor try to get into their site for more than 1/2 hr. There are only a few rigs in this area and you'd think they would give out the most level sites first. Large rigs beware. Will not ever return to this CG. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Silver Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Naples, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

This is the most we have ever paid for a RV park (Resort) in 20 years of fulltime RVing and we didn't even have a picnic table. We were in site 1193, very near the dumpsters. First morning at 6:12 am they dumped the garbage; at 7:10 am they were mowing under our bedroom; and every day starting about 6:30 people were in and out with their golf carts and their beepers going when backing up. The neighbors used our lot for a walkway at all times. Worst was DW had a medical emergency and couldn't walk. Called 911, told them where we were, walked outside and put on the truck flashers. Could hear the horn from the FD/EMS which was only 1/4 mile away. Took them 20 minutes to find us in the park. In that time, at least 25 cars/golf carts went by and not one stopped to ask if they could help us. Another time I was in the clubhouse using the WiFi (which is bad) and my wife needed to get me to see some repair guys and the people at the luncheon told her I wasn't there and wouldn't let her in to find me. If you are a renter, you are invisible. We camped at Silver Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wheel Inn Motel & RV Park, Atkinson, Nebraska

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The name of this campground is WHEEL INN RV PARK. This is how the owners label their receipts as is the signage. The motel has been razed. I think by including the word "motel", their RV business is being hurt. Please change the name. I know that we were doubtful of staying where there was a concurrent motel operations. The owners are friendly and helpful. Highway traffic is not heavy and not a lot of loud noises, but vehicles drive 50' away. We would stay again. We camped at Wheel Inn Motel & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Owners very friendly and upgraded our site because it is near the end of their season and wanted to give back to their guests. They are doing their best to improve their campground. Next season they will have sites on the creek. Will stay here again. We camped at Buffalo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Mardi Gras RV Park & Motel, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here once before during the first Jazz Fest after Katrina, so were anxious to see any improvements and to save some money. Not a big change other than it is cleaned up, the motel is repainted, a security gate is installed and there is a new office outside the gate. They list sites at $20 per night on their web page. We were charged $30. Our neighbor paid $20 and they had no reservation either. Print out web page and take it with you to get the $20/night rate. Couldn't get a refund. Now they rent out about 20 former FEMA trailers. Had a loose pit bull which campground owner said had broken its chain, so he is aware of what goes on. The campground rules say that dogs are not to be chained outside unattended, just like any other campground. One of our dogs is blind and my wife was very intimidated. There are several dogs chained outside. Will not stay here again. We camped at Mardi Gras RV Park & Motel in a Fifth Wheel.

Fountain of Youth RV Park, Thermopolis, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

For those who have used this park in the past, it is just the same as always. It is older with tight spaces, but everyone has a patio, picnic table and a grill. The power is good. The pool is cleaned weekly and fresh water is exchanged several times a day. It is mineral water and has stuff in it. This has been a bad bug season everywhere, use a spray. There is a small pile of stuff to recycle. Would stay here again and enjoy the rustic pool which is so nice with any temp you want. We camped at Fountain of Youth RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Quiet Oaks RV Park, Kinder, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

When we arrived on Sat afternoon early, no one in the office. We had problems with the electricity to site 71 (72 & 73 also). There was no breaker at power point. We figured out what appeared to be an old mobile home power pedestal had breakers which controlled several other power outlets. We later discovered that the power was not grounded. Since we were setup, we didn't move. There was no one to complain to since it was Easter weekend. We did complain on Monday, but attitude was that things were beyond owners control regarding the electricity. Tuesday morning at 3 am a four hour thunderstorm hit. The sites didn't drain about 2-3 inches of standing water. We took dogs for a walk and our blind female dog started yelling and crying, went into convulsion and her legs were all contracted. My wife handed her up the steps to me and we all got shocked. We were very unhappy and the attitude was that they can't do anything until they know about it. There is such a thing a preventative maintenance. You risk your life staying here! We camped at Quiet Oaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

River Park Campground - Wakamow Valley Authority, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Missed the turn to the park like many have. Coming south on Hwy 2 after turning off Manitoba, it is the first left turn, in front of the KCF. Address is 300 River Drive for your GPS. While there are sewer hookups, they are all taken (9) by the seasonal campers, so there aren't full hookups for transient campers. Guess gravel must be very expensive in Canada since all of the RV parks needed gravel that we have stayed in during our travels except the one in Winnipeg. This park is poorly maintained and one of our vent caps was damage with tree branch contact. Lot of train noise, but not usually loud except for the hooting which wasn't often. We went on the Al Capone tunnel tour and it was very good. Wi-Fi only next to the office. We camped at River Park Campground - Wakamow Valley Authority in a Fifth Wheel.

Saskatoon 16 West RV Park, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Our rate included a 15% discount. There was rain and mud puddles (lakes). Very little maintenance done here. Tall grass and all kinds of bugs. Must not own a weed-whacker. Nearly impossible to walk the dogs in the mud. Need to put gravel on roads and sites. Very, very noisy with the freeway and various industrial sites next to the campground. Don't mind the airport noise--not many flights. Charged $35 for a 30# propane refill. Won't stay here again. Someone needs to build a new campground. We camped at Saskatoon 16 West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
