Mountain River Family Campground (formerly Secluded Valley RV CG), Newland, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Great place, family atmosphere. Nice fishing pond. Lots of seasonal rentals which seem to come back every year. Sites are spacious and partially shaded. Restrooms are older but kept clean and in working order. We camped at Mountain River Family Campground (formerly Secluded Valley RV CG) in a Fifth Wheel.

In & Out RV Park, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is not a nice place. Dirty restrooms in need of repair and overgrown sites that are in need of some TLC. Better campgrounds are close by. Avoid if you can. We camped at In & Out RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Breaks Interstate Park, Breaks, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park but has its problems. Sent in and told to choose our site with no map: not a good idea. We went down the wrong loop and had quite a time getting out with our 38 ft fiver. Stayed on loop C which has beautifully full shaded, but not level sites. It also is the only site without a comfort station. So if you don't want to use your shower, it is a long walk to the loops with facilities, which are in need of repair and some consistent cleaning. No WiFi and cell service is marginal at best. Nearest gas station is 8 miles one way. Nearest Walmart or grocery store is 17 miles one way. Come prepared. But this park is gorgeous. The views are amazing. We camped at Breaks Interstate Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Middle Fork Campground, Slade, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Tight is the best word to describe this campground. If you are over or even around 40 feet, you may regret staying at this park. Good location close to the park sites which are awesome. WiFi you have to pay to play, lost a point with me. Sites are a decent size, just right on top of each other. There is nothing close by: no groceries or Walmart so come prepared and stocked up. Clean relatively new bathrooms, but in need of repair. We camped at Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Middle Fork Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Ohiopyle State Park, Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This park is gorgeous...the campground is too, but...it needs work. First off, a camp host who is present and doing his job. The day we arrived, our fire pit was loaded with broken bottles and aluminum cans. It also had other plastic garbage making it quite unsightly. Our 50 amp did not work, but we can function on 30. Park has garbage strewn here and there. This would not be problem if you had a decent camp host who cared a little. Too bad. Bathrooms were not the cleanest and definitely need to be updated, but had plenty of hot water with good pressure. Sites are not level, so plan accordingly. The park itself makes up for it. Great hiking and biking. Lots of beautiful waterfalls and vistas. We would probably come back in hopes we were victims to a lazy camp host and that conditions would improve. We camped at Ohiopyle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Remote park - Verizon had no service. Attentive camp host who kept us up date when a tree fell on some power lines. Site are not level. Bathrooms are outdated, but plenty of hot water. Would go back. We camped at Cook Forest State Park in a Motorhome.

Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

I could probably give this place a 9-10 if it wasn't for the price. If you charge these prices, then all sites should have sewer and cable for that matter. It's clean and well maintained. Tons of activities for kids. Great family campground! 10 minutes to Niagara Falls. Again, its just a bit pricey. We camped at Branches of Niagara Campground and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park), Watkins Glen, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are tight with little to no shade. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained but old. Mostly seasonal rentals but they were all friendly. Close to the gorge, the track, the wine trail and downtown. We would come back if in the area. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice wooded sites, but most are not level. We stayed at 271 and it was a pain. Camp store is closed, as of this date. Restrooms and showers are clean, but tired. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wickham Park Campground, Melbourne, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Quite a county park. Lots to do: Disc golf, horseshoe pits, archery, lake swimming, full equestrian facilities. This place has something for everyone. Now the bad, sites have recently been upgraded with sewer hook ups; the problem is the sites are grass and the construction left the area soft. That said, we saw 3 different rigs needing to be towed out because they got stuck in the soft sand. At this point, county is picking up the tab for the tow, not sure how long that will last. Bathrooms are clean but small and in need of updating. We camped at Wickham Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, Jamestown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The park is a beautiful piece of property, but the layout of the park is just bizarre. The pads are paved but short, uneven, and placed in odd places. Roads are narrow and not big rig friendly at all. Plan on long runs for water and electric at most sites. Its too bad it has such a funky layout because this place is so pristine. We camped at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in a Travel Trailer.

Burnidge Forest Preserve, Paul Wolff Campground, Elgin, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice level sites, shade if you want it, easy access, clean restrooms. So why am I giving it a 5? NO SHOWERS! With the lack of campgrounds anywhere close to the city of Chicago, this place would boom... and be a 8 or 9 if they would just build some public showers. We camped at Burnidge Forest Preserve, Paul Wolff Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Park has beautiful views but its lay out is strange. You need to be able to parallel park your rig in most cases. The bathrooms are pretty clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Tunnel Mountain Village II Campground - Electric Hookups (Parks Canada in a Travel Trailer.

Elkhart Co. / Middlebury Exit KOA, Middlebury, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a couple of nights after our camper was serviced. Pricey but lots of stuff for the kids, pool, petting zoo, pond, rec room, etc. Sites are mostly pull throughs and can be a little tight. Place is getting a little tired and needs some fleshing up. Bathroom maintenance was spotty.. need to pay a little closer attention to the details, paper products etc. We camped at Elkhart Co. / Middlebury Exit KOA in a Motorhome.
