Riverbrook RV Resort, Rumney, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for 4 weeks and would go back again. This place got a bad rap from the previous owner, but the new owners are great. They bend over backwards to make you comfortable. The sites are level, and adequate in size, all the services are fully functional, pool, and a river to swim in to boot. We camped at Riverbrook RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lazy Lions Campground, Graniteville, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to stay to see Vermont. The park is clean, neat, all services work well except some low voltage in AM. The staff is friendly and helpful. Watch for low branches going in but well worth the caution. We would stay her again without a doubt. We camped at Lazy Lions Campground in a Motorhome.

Wilderness Oaks RV Park (formerly Rockport 35 RV Park Resort), Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

The rate we paid reflects Passport America discount. The staff are extremely friendly & accommodating. We had a reservation, but when we pulled in & they re-assessed our space requirements, they immediately changed us to a larger site but did not increase the amount charged. Roads & sites are paved, with grass between sites. We are in a 40' motor home, towing a full size pick-up truck, with a motorcycle. We would return. We camped at Wilderness Oaks RV Park (formerly Rockport 35 RV Park Resort) in a Motorhome.

Hickiwan Trails RV Park, Ajo, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects weekly rate of $85.00/wk. Stayed 2 weeks. This place is a hidden gem, but I do not know how they can afford to stay in business. There is rarely anybody in the office to accept payment. They need to institute a system for self registration & payment. I am certain that several campers who stayed for only a day or two had to leave without paying. We had full hook-ups and all services worked very well. If you stay here, the entrance is not well marked. Enter via the gas station/casino parking lot. The drive into the campground is in the right rear of this parking lot. Closest groceries are at the IGA Store in Ajo (12 miles from the campground). We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Hickiwan Trails RV Park in a Motorhome.

Convenient to Organ Pipe National Monument which offers miles of roads and trails, as well as several Ranger led tours. The town of Ajo is a historic copper mining area with several interesting places to visit. Don't miss the every Saturday morning farmers market on the square.

Penn Lake Park Campground, Marathon, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 4 nights in a 40' motorhome with 4 slide-outs. We had one of the two long pull through lots, which was more than adequate for our motor-home & 2 vehicles. Water, sewer, & 50 amp electric were reliable. Some sites had services on the wrong side, although our lot had services located on the correct side. Pads are level, hard, gravel. Reservations are made during regular business hours through the city offices. No staff on site, however park maintenance staff are working every day & upkeep is excellent. On site laundromat is clean with relatively new machines. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Penn Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Interesting free city museum in Marathon is small, and staffed by local volunteers who provide detailed information on the history of the area. There are a couple of overlooks of Lake Superior beaches. If you enjoy hiking, there are some scenic hiking trails. The downfall of this area is very little to do.

Lebanon Hills Regional Park Campground, Apple Valley, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Would have rated a 10 if the entrance were better suited to big rigs (ours is 40'). Pads are hard gravel. There are 2 sewer access points at each site. Water pressure and electricity are reliable. Water spigot is at front of site, so long hose is required. There is only 1 road in and out and this 2 way road is very narrow and curvy. A big rig requires both lanes to maneuver. Dakota county needs to entirely revamp the entrance/exit for safety reasons. We would return. We camped at Lebanon Hills Regional Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Alpine RV Park, Bessemer, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Family owned and operated. Owners live on site and are very friendly and helpful. Sites are reasonably level, considering you are in very hilly country near the base of the Porcupine Mountains. Sites are large and are grass on hard packed sand and adequately support the weight of big rigs. Some sites have full services, but most are water and electric. Dump station easily accessible to big rigs. Nice place to stay while going to the Porkies and other scenic places in the area. Our RV is 40' long. We would return. We camped at Alpine RV Park in a Motorhome.

Aune-Osborn Campground, Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Generous size sites, with level hard gravel pads. Picnic tables and fire rings. Utilities work well. Benches on the river front where you can watch the ships approaching and leaving the locks. Clean laundromat, but only 3 washers and 3 dryers. One of the washers was out of order our entire stay. Manager says no local repair person for their brand (Speed Queen). Would rate higher if sewer were available and if the laundry were sufficient. We camped at Aune-Osborn Campground in a Motorhome.

Markin Glen County Park, Kalamazoo, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Concrete pads accommodate big rigs. Concrete patios, picnic tables and fire rings. All utilities work well. Sites generous size. Plenty of room for slides. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fishing lake with platforms, so no need for a boat. Sandy swimming beach and bathhouse well maintained. Paved hiking and biking trails. Big rigs must SWING WIDE at the entrance. May need to enter via the exit. Would have rated a 10 except for the tight entrance. Our rig is 40' long. We camped at Markin Glen County Park in a Motorhome.

Northwest Michigan Fairgrounds Campground, Traverse City, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects weekly rate. Sites are level, firm gravel pads with grass surrounding the pad. Park is well manicured & maintained. Would have rated higher if the bathrooms & showers had been closer. It is the equivalent of about a 2 city block walk or drive to the facilities. This is a hidden gem for RV folks exploring the Bay & Leelanau Peninsula areas, for those not looking for an RV park with extensive services. We camped in a 40' motor home. We camped at Northwest Michigan Fairgrounds Campground in a Motorhome.

Fox River Recreation, Antioch, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We paid $42/night, which was reflected in the weekly rate. The park is primarily occupied by seasonals who are here for the access to the Fox River Basin. There is a boat ramp for those with boats. We were in a 40' motor home that requires 13' overhead clearance. The staff had to hold up low slung wires and trim tree branches for us, which they did willingly. Mosquitoes were horrible and prevented us from being outdoors. The sewer system is gray water only and is marginal for that. Pumping service for black tanks is available one time per week. The site we had reserved and paid for in advance was given to a seasonal who arrived ahead of us. You may lose your site if they get a better deal. That being said, we had a long, solid gravel, level site that accommodated our rig, our towed vehicle, and our motorcycle. This park met our needs for a week visiting family in the area. We camped at Fox River Recreation in a Motorhome.

Fort Pickens Campground, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects 1/2 price camping for senior Golden Age park pass. Sites are large with paved pads. Can be difficult to park a large rig (ours is 40') because roads are very narrow. Beautiful beaches. Would return. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

Riverboat Travel Park , New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

It is a small gated parking lot. No frills here however all the services worked well, I felt very secure and the owner is friendly and helpful. For anyone stopping to sight see New Orleans, it is a perfect stop. Right off the I-10, city bus stop right in front and grocery store right down the street. If we come back to New Orleans we will stay here. We camped at Riverboat Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Mr. Z's RV Park, Gilbert, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Great little stop-over place about 20 miles from Columbia. We stayed here to visit museums. Be sure to call ahead because it is very small (11 sites) and they may be full. Lots can easily accommodate our 40' motor home. Wide enough to open slides, awnings, etc. Level hard packed sand pads. Clean and neat as a pin. No restrooms or showers. Must be self contained. We camped at Mr. Z's RV Park in a Motorhome.
