Lake Elizabeth Golf and Ranch Club, Lake Hughes, California

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Having read one of the other reviews, I thought this park can't possibly be that bad. Guess what: it is! The sites themselves have no shading or landscaping. Our electricity went off twice during our stay. The showers are abhorrent: literally an inch deep in crane flies and other bugs in the toilets and showers. We stayed only because we had forgotten about the July 4th holiday and every other place close by was full. When you go into the office to complain, they shrug their shoulders, or as one staffer said to me, "Lady, we make minimum wage. We've been through four owners in three years and there's not much we can do about anything." If you can't find another park, look for the nearest Wal-Mart. We camped at Lake Elizabeth Golf and Ranch Club in a Travel Trailer.

Soledad Canyon Park / Thousand Trails, Acton, California

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Many people told me not to come to this park - it was dirty and unkempt, they said - but I did anyhow and am glad I did. The park could use a little sprucing up, paint here and there, but very few parks these days can say anything different. The park has a great adult pool, immense children pool, lots of family activities, great security, an on-site store and its location, 40 miles north of Los Angeles, can't be beat. Add to this the Metrolink train that stops in nearby Acton and you have a good base for seeing the sights LA has to offer. I would camp here anytime. We camped at Soledad Canyon Park / Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.
