Duck Creek RV Resort, Muskegon, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nicest park I've been to. Just beautiful sites and great amenities. It's close to Theme park. Each site has perfectly manicured lawn and custom fire pit and cement pad. Beautiful pool, hot tub and grand room. Also has volleyball courts and other outdoor games. I can't say enough good things about the park. On the down side it is pricey at $60 a night but you are close to adventure Michigan theme park. One negative was at dusk the mosquitoes were out in force. They also pick up garbage from you at your site everyday. We camped at Duck Creek RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sand Hills Resort, Saint Anthony, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

First of all realize you are paying for immediate access to some of the best sand dunes in the country. This park is literally located in the dunes. Secondly, there will be noise, dust and smells from high performance atv's and sand rails. This will not be a quit time at the dunes. People come here to play hard and party hard. If your not up for that then this is not your place. The store has bare essentials and some Polaris and Can Am parts. Only racing gas is available, regular gas must be brought with you. We camped at Sand Hills Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Salt Lake City KOA, Salt Lake City, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Price is indicative of the central downtown location. $51 is high for us but we needed to be close. Park is very large and active with mixture of seasonal and overnight campers. They have everything you'd expect from a KOA. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great location and very helpful staff. Very easy 1 hour drive to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Slightly dusty at times in the park when there is traffic. We camped at Kaibab CampeRVillage in a Fifth Wheel.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Very large sites considering it's a private commercial campground. Would be 5 stars except for one thing. Fires out by 11pm rule. Seems a bit ridiculous, considering we're all adults and maybe would like to spend a late light while on vacation enjoying a relaxing fire while the kids are sleeping. Security is at your site at 11pm sharp making sure your fire is out and you're in. Otherwise the pool is great and the store is well stocked. Won't be returning however until the stupid curfew on campfires is changed. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

St. Vrain State Park, Longmont, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Surprised that the roads are dirt. It was windy and dusty. Sites are nice with concrete pads and full hookups. Price reflects daily rate plus $10 reservation fee. Close to the interstate so as expected there's traffic noise 7/24. Not bad inside with A/C going. Would stay again because it's still better than most private CG's. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Las Colinas RV Park (55+ park), Eloy, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Great park, wonderful owners and staff and nice mixture of park models and snowbirds in their own rigs. They make sure you feel welcome and include you in activities. Other snowbirds are very friendly and try to include everyone in activities. Would definitely return if in the area. Cash or checks only, no credit cards accepted. Nice pool and shuffle boards too? Not at all like the other mega resorts in the area. Everybody knows eCh other and there is no extra fees for everything. Verizon 4G service is very robust at the CG. We camped at Las Colinas RV Park (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Casa Grande is very close and has everything you would need. Verizon 4G service is very robust at the CG. Eva's Mexican restaurant is walking distance and has excellent food and great margarita's. Eloy very close by has a world renowned sky diving center where you can go watch team training and displays almost everyday.

Mission West RV Resort, Palmview, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Basically an older snowbird park. Stayed here a month and rate reflects monthly rate of 525.00 for cement pad + electric which is charged at a rate well above their cost. Best watch your electric usage and be ready for a shock at checkout. Grass site would be 50.00 less. Forget the WiFi which is useless, bring your own hot spot. Verizon 4G signal is marginal to good. On site golf course is a 9 hole short course in need of water and a greens keeper. Dumpsters at at the far end of the campground with nothing close to sites for garbage. Park is fairly well maintained but shows its age. Many activities going here and in the valley for the 55+ crowd. No picnic tables or fire rings. We camped at Mission West RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Padre Island National Seashore, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

Direct oceanfront beach camping. Go south from the visitor center and the road ends and you drive on the beach. Beach road is fine for big rigs to approx mile marker 5 then gets a little soft. Fires are allowed and the beach is wonderful right out your door. No services on the beach except a dumpster when you leave. Pick up after yourself and get a couple extra large garbage bags from the entrance station and fill them with trash from the beach. Leave it cleaner than you found it. We camped at Padre Island National Seashore in a Fifth Wheel.

New Bern KOA, New Bern, North Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Nicest most well run KOA I have ever been to. Great management and staff. We stayed under monthly rate in a fifth wheel. Sites are spacious and far enough from each other. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area. We camped at New Bern KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Grand Casino Hinckley RV Resort, Hinckley, Minnesota

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice state of the art campground. Large lot with fire rings. Shutte bus comes by every 20 minutes 24 hours a day to take you to casino or bring you back. Restaurants and bars at the casino are top notch. There is also a 18 hole championship golf course on site. Great vacation spot for adults, not much to do for the kids. Best off to leave them home. Enough said! We camped at Grand Casino Hinckley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp Ocean Forest, Emerald Isle, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly host and the sites are literally 25 steps to the beach. That being said the sites are very small and very close together. This means your outside area is your neighbors sewer hose and hookups and slide out. There was enough room for the awning to go out however. But you are at the beach so spend your time there I guess. Also the park really only has 6 sites available for nightly rental the rest of the sites are all permanent residents living in mostly older park models and 1970's mobile homes. We camped at Camp Ocean Forest in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA), Batesville, Indiana

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is very run down and not maintained. It is a Thousand Trails campground and also is a KOA. We used Passport America for half price or I would have been very upset. Grass was a foot long and the gravel site pads are mostly mud and that are not level, the hookups are on the wrong side in some sites. Sites were laid out wierd and there were a number of older units in there as full timers and they were run down too. I would not return there even for half price again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Indian Lakes (now both TT and KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful place to stay, very large sites with fire rings and picnic tables, we used Passport America for the low rate of $14. Did not use any restrooms. I Believe they are closing for the season in mid October. We camped at Blackhawk Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
