Rainbow Falls Provincial Park, Rossport, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2009 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The provincial park is beautiful, scenery unlike any other point of Lake Superior. Falls are nice and a good hike. Campground is rustic and could use some work on the roads. Our site was supposed to be very private (rated on the reservation site as such) but when we arrived we encountered problems. Ours was one of only a few right on the lake with a supposedly private beach, far from the public beach. To our surprise many people came right up to our chairs, fire pit, and picnic table and sat down as if it was a public area. When we told them it was our campsite most were rude and ignored us. We roped the area off to prevent this after being told we did indeed have the right to our privacy by one staffer. The next day a different staffer told us to remove the rope and we'd just have to put up with it. I showed her the description of the site from what I had printed out and she was very ignorant about it. She then came by frequently to "check up" on us to see if the rope was back up. It wasn't. I wrote to the park afterward and never got a response. We were thoroughly disappointed and it ruined the whole 5 days we were there. We were made to feel like criminals who were under surveillance and I'll NEVER return. We camped at Rainbow Falls Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Indian Point Campground, Duluth, Minnesota

A nice park, a little open for our liking but quiet and peaceful near the river. Staff were friendly and the overall mood of the park was good. We camped at Indian Point Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Spirit Mountain Campground, Duluth, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

While we thoroghly enjoyed the park itself we were horrified to discover ticks on us and our dog. From merely walking through the campground, on the road, we all found ticks when we returned to our trailer. The park is beautiful and serene but I can never stay there again because of the ticks. It was unbelievable. We camped at Spirit Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Grand Marais RV Park & Campground, Grand Marais, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We love this park and go annually. It is next to impossible to secure a lake view site though. They all seem to be permanent/seasonal. The only sites near the lake (view blocked by trees though) are for tents only. Still, the staff are friendly and Grand Marais is a nice quiet getaway. We are very disappointed however that the 'golf included' bonus for campers has been discontinued. It was the main reason we tried the campground in the first place. The 9 hole municipal course is a little rough but a fun, stress-free game nonetheless. Overall we enjoy the campground and will continue to go each summer. We camped at Grand Marais RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Burlington Bay Campground, Two Harbors, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, beautiful setting. Difficult to secure lake-front sites though, and the fellow we reserved with on the phone could use a little friendlier tone. Would stay again but try to book well in advance so we can get near the lake. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.
