Our tent site at Glenwood Canyon Resort was adequate for our week-long stay. We had camped here last year, but weren't welcomed back by staff. The new zip-line is housed on what used to be the best tent sites. This is a good spot for adventure seekers with an on-site zip, 40' high obstacle course, and whitewater raft trips. Be sure to mention you are camping when you book, they do offer a discount, but you have to ask for it. It seems like the management is more interested in the adventure side than the campers. The lower-site bathrooms were rarely cleaned and the soap dispenser in the ladies room were still broken as it was last year. There is a long climb up uneven wooden steps to access the bathrooms. It wouldn't take much for them to install a hand rail (even log and rope) or sweep the rocks off the steps. Just going up and down in the dark was high adventure! The lower tent sites do offer some shady spots and it is a beautiful area, but the sites are stacked close and line the road. It seemed like a one-night stay place for most of our neighbors. The zip-line and rafting staff were wonderful, well-trained and personable, maybe they could teach the office staff? If you like the adrenaline sports, it might be worth the convenience to stay here.

Ignore the reviews prior to this season! Elk Creek Campground was a magical place for our family. This site is full of natural beauty and gave us the real feel of mountain camping. Our tent rested on a corner of Elk Creek and the rushing river sounds lulled us into a deep restful sleep. The campsites are well spaced and tree-lined, giving you a feeling of privacy, no roadside lines of tents here! Water and electric are offered at every site, too. The bathrooms and laundry are clean and bright, even a cozy arm chair while you wait for your clothes to dry! The best part is the new management. They were helpful and available for any questions and led us to a great hike nearby. I would highly recommend any Glenwood Springs visitors drive the extra 30 minutes to stay at Elk Creek Campground!
