San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA, Petaluma, California

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Give it a 2 only because it is an easy on/off from Hwy 101. I have stay at 100+ parks and this is the worst. Sites are tight, there seem to be a lot of long-term residents, and the smell of cows/goats was strong. I would not recommend even overnight and will not return. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Harris Beach State Park, Brookings, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Best State Park of the three we visited (Cape Lookout and Beverly Beach). However, some sites (with views) did not have sewage and only 30 amp. Close to city for dining and shops/grocery. Also, nice drive on scenic coast with many viewpoints and trails. Short walk to park beaches, which were very nice - rock beach, driftwood and scenic rock formations. We camped at Harris Beach State Park in a Motorhome.

Ancient Redwoods RV Park, Redcrest, California

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with good utilities, but weak Wi-Fi. Off season so park was not full. Good location if you want to drive the Avenue of the Giants. Not good for food or shopping. Restrooms were clean but more like a bunker arrangement. Would return. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Port Orford RV Village, Port Orford, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Passport America and a $3 daily fee to use electric heat vs propane. This family operated park is small, but quaint. Well maintained and quiet. It has a nice feel about it - a village, not just a place to parking site. Close to the dock, ocean beach and state parks. Recommend Griff's on the dock for a true local taste. Only drawback is no 50 amp. Easy off/on 101. If you like a small family owned park, would recommend. We camped at Port Orford RV Village in a Motorhome.

Beverly Beach State Park, Newport, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Site E01 was muddy! Loop B and C had been updated, but Loop B is very dense. The park itself (beach and trees) were great, but overall the experience was less than ideal. Be careful reserving a site on Reserve America. You might get the surprise - unlevel and in flood zone. The location was nice - 7 miles from Newport and 7 from Dope Bay. Recommend Ocean Local Seafood for lunch and Tidal Rave for sunset dinner. Convenient to Walmart. We camped at Beverly Beach State Park in a Motorhome.

Cape Lookout State Park, Tillamook, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Rate include reservation fee. Visited park in a very extreme storm with 50 mph gales. The sites do hold water and there can be blowing sand, but good wind break. Road to entry (Whiskey Road?) is somewhat difficult to drive, but may have been the weather. Park is somewhat isolated. No Direct TV signal and weak AT&T cell/air card. Am sure the beach is nice, but was confined to RV due to weather for three days! We camped at Cape Lookout State Park in a Motorhome.

Cannon Beach RV Resort, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Good Sam. Nice park with mature trees. Dog friendly. Short walk to beach. Good shopping and dining. Only downer was the pool/spa was dated and not inviting. Also, power went out for a brief period due to strong storm. Site only had 30 amp, but guess some have 50 amp. Would return. We camped at Cannon Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Diamond Lake RV Park, Diamond Lake, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Rate includes Good Sam. Nice park with good utilities, clean bath house and friendly staff. Close to Crater Lake and nice drives and hikes. Lodge and pizza place close by. Bad AT&T cell/air card, but did get Direct TV signal. Would return, but earlier in the season. It was cold with snow. We camped at Diamond Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Riverwalk RV Park, Fortuna, California

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, very clean park near 101 exit. Great overnight spot with pool/spa, good brewery/grill within walking distance, and 10% discount. Somewhat of a drive to redwoods and other attractions. Very quiet in park, with some long-term in the back and some road noise. Friendly staff and good utilities. Good Sam rate for full hook-up/drive through site. We camped at Riverwalk RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Okay park away from 101 traffic noise. Somewhat dated, but well maintained. Friendly staff and nice large sites. We stayed at site w/o dump, as did not have reservations. It was a dirt site, but most were paved. Would stay again. We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort , Felton, California

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

First stay at this park and will return. It is a small park and we stayed on river view site. Site 22 provides a nice view of the river. Felton is close to Santa Cruz and the park borders a state park, which has nice hikes and great grove of redwoods. Nothing fancy, but clean and friendly, with nice camping under the redwood trees. We camped at Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Ocean Mesa Campground at El Capitan, Santa Barbara, California

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

We stay at this park anytime we pass through the area. Recent stay confirmed the overall rating - only thing negative is the price, but what can you do. The park is top notch. Short walk to beach. Good restaurant within walking and pool/spa makes this park a good stop for several day stay, if you want a view of the ocean. We camped at Ocean Mesa Campground at El Capitan in a Motorhome.

Malibu Beach RV Park, Malibu, California

Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

I rated this park an 8 in October, but sites matter. The park is great, but back-in requirement this trip resulted in a less than hoped for view of the ocean. Nice, but not as nice. However, I will return as the park is well maintained and has a lot going for it. See my earlier review. We camped at Malibu Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.
