The Refuge on Roanoke Island, Wanchese, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Pros: The campground is fairly new; it is in a very nice setting and conveniently located to the outer banks area (much nicer than the alternatives in the area). Cons: The shower water pressure in the bath house was extremely low. We camped at The Refuge on Roanoke Island in a Travel Trailer.

Pettigrew State Park, Creswell, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Some of the sites are shaded and some are not. We were disappointed that there was no dump station. Also we saw no posted quiet hours and one group was very loud late into the night. On the plus side, Lake Phelps is beautiful and we hear it is great to fish in, if you have a boat. The park also has some interesting historical buildings, but they were not open while we were there. We camped at Pettigrew State Park in a Travel Trailer.
