Let me start by saying I've camped at Cherrystone for over 35 years. I've always enjoyed this campground as a child and looked forward to taking my children some day. For the most part, the campground resembles what I remember as a child. The bay is terrific with great crabbing and fishing. The pools are clean and fun and the campground is generally clean and well kept. It did make me laugh the way some campers cruise around in their custom golf carts. I guess the idea of walking is a foreign idea. The staff generally tried to be polite and accommodating, however, they seemed handcuffed by some really stupid rules that the campground has incorporated. We ordered fish our last night at the cafe and it was great. Cherrystone also made a great move in offering free use of the paddle boats and miniature golf. The kids enjoyed both. Many years ago they replaced the roller skating rink with a tennis court.

This campground is really two campgrounds: One is the main section where there are a lot of campers riding a lot of golf carts, seemingly cruising the campground; The second part of the campground (water front) with bay views is rather quiet with boat access and great vistas. We stayed in the latter twice this year and had a great time. We love the water and the dock at our campsite. In the bay just outside the campground, we caught many crabs, clams and flounder. Not to mention the campground is just down the road from Assateaque (GREAT BEACH/dog friendly).

This campground is very LARGE. It was over a mile from the office to our site. Lots of highway noise from the 15. Store, arcade and pool hours are rather short. It seems rather silly to pay $10 for a pool with one water slide and short hours. The camp store was expensive (wood was $7.00 for 7 pieces). The staff could not recommend a location for two RV groups camping together. The site was mostly rocks with no grass. The campground was close to Gettysburg but had minimal activities at the campground. Some of the sites were uneven (sewer line went slightly uphill). We were surprised this campground had the highest rating from Woodall's.
