Old Stage Campground, Madbury, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Another great Labor Day weekend. I guess I could copy and paste the review from last year. Really enjoyed sitting at the fire listening to the DJ. This year we had 4 sites but there was a mix up on our sons site, not sure if it was our son's mistake or the campgrounds but they did everything possible to fix it which they did and they made sure they were taken care of which was great, we really enjoy everything about this campground. We had a lot of rain on Sunday but the owners had some back up plans and were able to entertain the kids which was nice. The wifi is weak but in the end, we do not camp to use the wifi... We are booked for next year already in our favorite site. We camped at Old Stage Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Boston / Cape Cod KOA, Middleboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

It was an interesting stay this time around. Great campground with a ton of kids all having a great time which is good. They live on the 2 bouncy pillows which was fun to watch. As others have said, a lot of activities for the kids. The pool was very enjoyable but seems to be showing it's age as some repairs are needed but the water was great. The staff was friendly and the store was nice with most anything you would need. What made this stay interesting was a few of the rules or what should be rules were not followed. We have been camping for 27 years and have never seen so much cutting through sites, it is totally out of control. First we thought it was just the kids but then the parents started cutting through as well. There is a path for them to use but maybe it is not marked well. Constant cutting between trailers, between fire pits and trailers, it was just unbelievable. This is a huge pet peeve and it really takes away from the experience. Next was the non stop uncontrollable dog barking. All day and night and nothing is done about it. Most campgrounds would tell people they have to take their dog out but it went on and on. The final thing that bothered me was when I saw kids driving golf carts, talk about an accident waiting to happen. If we decide to return we will need to stay in another area I guess. We camped at Boston / Cape Cod KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Sea-Vu West Premier RV Resort, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

Finally made it here and sure wish we had gone sooner. I realize it would not be for everyone but we truly enjoyed our stay. The Campground is all grass and has very few trees, a little more shade would be nice but did not matter to us. The sites are all back in and are good size. The seasonal sites are in their own section and most are great looking sites. The pool complex was great, nice pool, hot tub, kids pool, showers, bathrooms and laundry were all very nice and very clean. The office/store building was beautiful. We found the workers and seasonal campers to be very friendly. All in all we had a great weekend and will return. In addition to the campground, there are plenty of things to do in the area. There was one major negative at Sea Vu West, the wifi is so bad that it might be better without it. We could not even surf the web is was so slow and weak. We were talking about if we would ever be seasonal here, but the wifi has to be better. We camped at Sea-Vu West Premier RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Green Gate Camping Area & Hall, Exeter, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We went in with high hopes but our bubble was quickly popped. The owner was nice and she helped where she could but there was a lost reservation so check-in took a while. The pool had clear water but the sides and the bottom were very dirty or stained or something, cleaning or painting is needed. The sites were it rough shape as far as them being neat and clean and level. The utilities were fine but the sites needed grading, brush cleared and probably a number of trees removed. Many of the seasonal sites were cluttered and spilling over into neighboring sites. There was a nice entry road and the playground looked nice but that was about it. We were hoping to find a gem close to home and close to the beach but that did not happen. Maybe with a lot of TLC this could be better but to be real good a re-design of some of the sites would be needed. We camped at Green Gate Camping Area & Hall in a Travel Trailer.

Scenic View Campground, Warren, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first stay here and will not be our last. From check in to the end of our stay we truly enjoyed this campground. We had a site that backed to the brook and the brook led to a river. It is a very quiet, quaint place. It was very peaceful and beautiful. The owners were very nice and they kept the place clean and quiet. We saw one or two patrols at night but there was not much for them to do as everyone was quiet. We were able to enjoy the heated pool which really hit the spot and we also went blueberry picking just down the street. They offer various activities throughout the weekend for those who want to participate. There are a few seasonal's here but they are kind off off on their own in 2 locations of the campground. We checked out the bathrooms to find they were very modern and clean. Our site was plenty large enough and all the connections worked well and were placed in a great location to be used. We enjoyed our stay and will return as there is plenty to do in the area. We camped at Scenic View Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Crow's Nest Campground, Newport, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This was a hard one to put a number to so I settled on a 7. This is a basic campground that is set up in 2, maybe 3 sections. The front section is a flat field with 4 rows of campers. A somewhat tight area with the outer 2 rows being seasonal for the most part and the middle 2 rows being back in sites that seemed real short, those with a long trailer did not seem to be able to park on the site. The back section was where we were, it is a circle with the inner part being full hook up and the outer section being water and electric. In addition, there was another road that had 8-10 tent sites with no hook ups. This area had trees, was more spacious and had a little privacy. There is a small section between the front and back with a few pull through's out in the open and a road that had water and electric sites on the river which seemed nice. We enjoyed our time here and found this to be a campground that families liked as there were a number of larger families with a lot of kids running around and riding bikes. The campground offered some fun and unique activities for the kids. The owners here were very nice and friendly. The store had wood and ice etc but did not really look at anything else. We took advantage of the pool which is very nice. The bathhouses were older but very clean. All in all it was a pleasant weekend and we enjoyed what we did. We would stay again if we were in the area or could put together and family gathering at a somewhat central area but not sure we would travel out of our way just to stay here if that make sense. We camped at Crow's Nest Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground), Kennebunkport, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Now called Sandy Pines, there are new owners here. I had never been there before but you can still see what it once looked like as the work is not done. As for the work done so far, all I can say is WOW! Everything here looks amazing from the entry to the office and store to the pool to the sites and the bathhouses. The entire front half of the campground has been done over and the work continues. The sites are all new crushed stone with new bark mulch between the sites. All new fire pits and utilities at the sites which look great. The bathhouse were very nice as well. They are installing campground maps and info boards throughout the campground. The staff was very nice as well and made you feel very welcome. To date they have done a wonderful job on everything. We camped at Sandy Pines Campground (formerly Salty Pines Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Red Apple Campground, Arundel, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has quickly become one of our favorites. The owners are extremely friendly and the campground is clean and beautiful. Staff is out and about making sure everything is picked up and clean. It is very quiet here which is what we look for on many weekends. Peaceful and relaxing is the key to us having a good weekend. The pool was wonderful and the store had everything we needed. The only negative that I can say is that at times the wifi was deathly slow but other than that we had the best time here. We camped at Red Apple Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Another great stay at this top notch resort. Nice to see they are working on and improving the park. They have added and/or upgraded some sites and looks as if they are adding more sites. Makes me look forward to our next stay to see what changes. Got to enjoy the pools and hot tubs. Outside pool was a bit cool but the inside pool was nice. Surprisingly quiet for the size Campground this is. Staff was great and the entire experience was great. We camped at Normandy Farms in a Travel Trailer.

Abel Mountain Campground, Braintree, Vermont

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We returned here since our son lives within 5 minutes of the park. We had a site on the river which was nice. The sites along the river are plenty wide enough. The one negative is with some rain, the grass was wet and are feet got wet but probably better than getting mud everywhere. The owners were very nice and they have a very nice visitor policy. If your visitors are just coming to your site then there is no charge, only visitors that plan on using the pool and other facilities need to pay and they use the honor system to collect the fees. Not too much to do in the area but we did go out to breakfast with our son and took a ride up to Ben and Jerry's. this was a very quiet Campground, night and day, never heard any noise of any kind other than the train. We camped at Abel Mountain Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fransted Family Campground, Franconia, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Another awesome stay at Fransted. Gregg and Karen are wonderful hosts and run a nice, clean campground. For the holiday weekend, they keep things very orderly and quiet which we really appreciate. You hear so many horror stories about camping on holiday but no issues here. In the early evening we were able to sit back, enjoy our fire and listen to nature and some kids playing in the distance. As the evening went out, we did not hear a sound from any other campers. They had planned activities throughout the weekend but we only attending the food activities, the ice cream social and the cake event. Both were very good and well attended. This was our first trip in the spring and the campground looked great. The tent sites were all cleaned and ready for the season with new mulch pads, the bathrooms were very clean and the overall look was great. One of my favorite things to do when we are walking is to stand on the bridge and just watch the water flow by, it is so peaceful and relaxing. This year we stood on a new bridge which looked great and must have been a big undertaking in the off season. If you love nature and a peaceful camping experience, this is the place for you. My wife likes this campground so much she is thinking of trying a tenting weekend and I think that will be a first for her. We camped at Fransted Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Whispering Pines Campground, Newton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

New owners here are very nice and friendly. Campground is very quiet this time of year. There are train tracks nearby but this did not bother us, we love hearing trains. Sites are large. Many sites are seasonal and campers were all working on cleaning up the sites or adding decks etc. Pool looked nice and the owners were busy getting the place ready for the season. All the hook ups were great and modern. Bathhouse was older but very clean. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fransted Family Campground, Franconia, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is always the easiest review to write. We love this campground and the owners are great, so easy to talk to. This campground has simple rules and if you follow them you will have a great experience. This campground is beautiful and is a very special place for us. Walking the campground is nice, standing on the bridge watching the water flow is so peaceful. The sites are great, we had a very private full hookup site. The tent sites are great and some are right on the water. We missed going here last year but not again, we will camping there next year for sure. In addition to being a great campground, the area it is located is wonderful with so much to do. The foliage this weekend was great. We camped at Fransted Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 6 nights and enjoyed our stay. Owners were very nice. It was off season so it was somewhat quiet although busier than we expected. Our site worked fine but was tight, had to leave the truck on the very edge of the street. Had to move it a couple times to let campers out from across the street. If you are in the area for Bar Harbor, you are about an hour away. There are a few things to do in the area but not much. We were there for 6 nights. Will return if we are in the area.
