Noccalula Falls Campground, Gadsden, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The falls are less than a five minute walk from the campground and are spectacular. The grounds are clean and wooded. The infrastructure is older but the pads are concrete which is good. This is part of a city park and there is a flat and wide gravel trail running next to the campground with the gorge beyond. Some of the sites are impossibly close to others, a slab was angled three feet from ours, BUT they do not seem to rent those, spacing folks out. In general, the spaces are close , but livable. Lots of trees and shade. Pleasant. We camped at Noccalula Falls Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Detroit Greenfield RV Park, Ypsilanti, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large campground, perhaps 300 spaces. They are tucked in quite close. There were empty spaces beyond us, and we wondered why they didn't space people. It was shaded, had full hook ups and were fairly level. The sites had once had gravel, but now mostly dirt. Our particular experience was good and bad. Our site had litter and garbage and many, many cigarette butts on it which was a turn off. We had a nice couple on our back side that we visited with. In front was another matter. It appeared to be a long term rental as none of the cars had hitches on them. There was a camper and a tent. If we had put our awning out, it would have almost touched the tent and over hung their sewer connection. There were a lot of teenagers over there. At one point they put up a larger tent and a helper came, parking his auto right up against our camper with the motor running and lights on to illuminate the job. This took until after ten and with our windows open, it was like they were in our living space and then the kids were in the tent talking and playing until 2AM. I am sure most people do not have this experience. They have a large, well stocked store with groceries and things folks need for RVs. They also sell discounted tickets to the Henry Ford Museum which was the reason for our visit. Coming from the south, their sign is invisible and they say the township will not allow them to move it so it was hard to find. They had 5 unisex showers that were clean. We camped at Detroit Greenfield RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hickory Hill Campground, Secor, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Just one night stay passing through. Had read the other reviews and thought the gunfire would not be an issue as my husband is a competitive shooter, but it did if the AC was not running. Fortunately it rained and shut them down. I agree with all the good things the other reviews say. We actually enjoyed walking around the permanent sites and seeing their creativity in adding screened porches, roofs, decks, and rooms to their campers. We camped at Hickory Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Victory RV Park and Campground, Paducah, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We were just here for one night. The owners were friendly and led us to out site. There are two home style bathrooms, each with shower, toilet and sink. These, and the laundry were clean and neat. The sites are around a small pond with a fountain. Looked like several permanent or seasonal residents but all was clean and neat and the sites were level. There is no shade. We camped at Victory RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground, Copper Harbor, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We were there for three days, parked in a real close row across from the bath house. Good things were the wifi comes from the bath house so it was good and the showers were handy. The park is two blocks from town so easy to walk or bike there. In the back, on the other side of the creek, there are well spaced wooded sites. Not sure if they are seasonal or not. There is a lake across the road, still in the park with a swimming area. Warning: the town has little cell service. I could not get ATT even where ATT says it is available. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Charming town with lots of shops. We ate at the Mariner restaurant which was good. Great views from various spots. Sort of the end of the earth. On Lake Superior.

Lake DuBay Shores Campground, Mosinee, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a lot of seasonal or permanent residents but their sites were for the most part, clean and neat. We were in an area away from that and it would have been crowded had anyone else been there. We were there one night during the week and only one other camper was in that area. The highway is a bit close and busy but really not bothersome to us. They are on a lake and have a dock. A lot of the sites in our area were not level but the management let us move to a more level site. We did not use the bath house. We camped at Lake DuBay Shores Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedarville RV Park, Cedarville, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

The park is situated on a peninsula jutting into Lake Huron and has a dock so the views are outstanding. The wind keeps it cool and we saw no bugs in three days. There were mink living under the dock and they were fun to watch when they ventured out. The laundry and bathhouse are neat and clean and they also provide a clothes line. The sites are grass with no mats allowed. The host is very friendly and helpful. There are many permanent owners on site but all the dwellings are neat and clean, some worthy of photos, they are so well landscaped. Most of the sites are very close together, but during the week there was no one on one side. And the hookups are up by the road so our cord would not reach, but the owner loaned us a cord. It was like a little village and we found all the residents to be very friendly. We camped at Cedarville RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a maritime museum on the highway near where you turn into the park that is well done. The weekend we were there was the annual wooden boat show in the next town. We went over the day after and still saw a number of impressive vintage boats. This is not a big tourist area but easy drive to St. Ignace to catch ferry to Mackinac Island. Also easy drive to Sault Ste. Marie.

Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham, Alabama

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The spaces around the perimeter have more shade and privacy. We were in the center, but still the spaces were wide enough, just no privacy. The spaces were paved with asphalt which was great considering the rain. It was level and had full hook ups. The place was well maintained. The park is in a built up area near shopping and restaurants but the campground is 5.5 miles into the park at 35mph so it takes awhile to get in and out. The park has a lot of amenities including a lake, trails and a golf course. We camped at Oak Mountain State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Munising/Pictured Rocks KOA (Wandering Wheels Campground), Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Although there are some bad reviews, we found this to be a very acceptable park. The sites are wider than some we encountered in this area and they are wooded and shaded. The sites and roads are dirt so wet conditions could be challenging. There are two showers for males and two for females and this is not enough, there is a lengthy wait at peak times. The pool is out of service but they have arranged to use the motel pool next door. The staff is friendly and helpful. We camped at Munising/Pictured Rocks KOA (Wandering Wheels Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Camden Hills RV Resort, Rockport, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, quiet campground. We arrived the afternoon of the last day of Lobster Fest and it was fairly full, but quiet. No children that I saw and well behaved pets. The next day half the campers left and it seemed to be mostly seasonal and us the rest of the time. First site uneven due to tree roots and lack of gravel but we were changed to another that was fine, except all the sites could use fresh gravel. This one pooled water in a rain, but drained fairly quickly. Nice pool and rec hall. Showers need a little updating, but adequate. Staff very friendly and helpful. We camped at Camden Hills RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA, Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our pull through site was a little quirky but by going in the "wrong way," we achieved a grassy lawn with shade trees. Lovely setting on a former plantation with mature trees. Creek winds through and spills into lake. Has lots of helpful staff, a large store and a nice pool. They showed movies at night in an open air pavilion for children. We camped at Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeview RV Park, Bluff City, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a nice pool and pavilion. The staff is very friendly. However, the sites are just like a gravel parking lot and for the most part the lake view is just a narrow passage. Some of the sites were junky with stuff piled everywhere. It worked for us just staying one night but I would want more ambiance at the site for a longer stay. We camped at Lakeview RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
