Land of Evangeline Family Camping Resort, Grand Pre, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

On a positive note they do have level, dirt/grassy sites, laundry room, and slow Internet. The big negatives are they are way over priced and have low voltage issues. For $46 a night the voltage should not drop drastically when only using 18 amps when they are telling you that you have a 30 amp sight. Tried to run one air conditioner or the microwave without the air conditioner and the voltage would drop to below 110. Had to use my propane for hot water heater and refrigerator to prevent voltage from dropping dangerously low and damaging my electronic equipment. Will not camp here again. We camped at Land of Evangeline Family Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Gateway to the North RV Park, Deer Lake, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Typical gravel dustbowl next to a noisy road (sirens & trucks). It is also under an airport flight pattern. Location makes it handy for an overnight stop. However, our power protection would not connect to their 30 amp service due to an indicated open ground. When we told the owner, he overreacted and became hostile. He argued that hundred of motor homes have used that spot and that we were the only ones to complain. I didn’t think we were complaining but informing him of a possible safety issue. Of course ungrounded systems work. That is what countries used for years before they required grounding to keep people and equipment safe. The owner was a jerk and instead of looking to see if there was a simple solution like a loose wire he just rented it to the next RVer. Check your power if you use this park. We camped at Gateway to the North RV Park in a Motorhome.

I am quoting the Passport America rate. Clean and friendly park within a short walk of a restaurant that serves great home cooked meals at a reasonable price. Good laundry facilities. Will camp here again. We camped at Pumpkin Patch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Four Seasons Family Campground, Pilesgrove, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $25.00

They mis-read the electric meter and overcharged us. It is hard to get in and out of this park due to roads with deep ruts. It is a real dump. Will never camp here again. We camped at Four Seasons Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Leisure Lake Membership Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $26.00

When my GPS couldn't find it, I should have taken this as a sign and gone someplace else. There is heavy road construction going on with the Frontage Road that the Park is located on so the GPS doesn't know where to go. We are traveling in a 39 footer towing a car so not knowing where to go became very traumatic at times. I can't blame the Park for this, but I can blame them for what happen next. They put us in a 50 amp site but we couldn't get any Dish reception. Next they put us in a 30 amp site that had low voltage. I lived through 2 stressful days of constantly watching the meter. For a very brief time I could run an A/C, but nothing else. One time I had nothing plugged in but the frig and coffee pot. I had to switch the frig to gas so I could continue brewing my coffee. When I wanted to heat the hot water for a shower I had to heat it with gas. Here I am paying for 30 amp electric but couldn't use it for A/C, frig, hot water or much of anything else. Hadn't seen all the sights so I was going to stay a 3rd day but decided I couldn't handle the stress of possibly ruining my A/C. Give this Park some time to recover from the construction work and update their electrical systems. We camped at Leisure Lake Membership Resort in a Motorhome.

Sunset Lakes Resort, Hillsdale, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Lady at front office (school teacher) was very friendly and informative of things to see and do. Park is located beside a beautiful lake with trees and plenty of ducks. Had a fitness room, pool, cafe & store. If you wanted to go into the pool after 5:00 pm you would have to hike back to the front gate for the key which would be quite a walk. We didn't want to unhitch our car so we decided not to swim. The cafe & store never opened the two partial days we were there which surprised us since we didn't leave until 11:00 am on a Friday. Sites are a bit old and hard to maneuver a big rig. Was hard to get out of site without hitting trees. All in all it was a OK park which would be best suited for midsize RVs. We camped at Sunset Lakes Resort in a Motorhome.

Cutty's Des Moines Camping Club, Inc, Grimes, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Priced right at $14 a night for CCUSA members. Had full hookups with 50 amps. Interior roads need work due to being washed out. Site wasn't very level. On way out of the park the automatic gate wasn't working so they had to call repairman to fix it to allow us to leave. Did this all pretty quickly. If you have a tow car this park was conveniently located as a jumping off place to see Bridges of Madison County in Winterset, Iowa. All in all not bad for the money. We camped at Cutty's Des Moines Camping Club, Inc in a Motorhome.

Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area, Papillion, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

What a gem. The host couple were very friendly and told us of all the things to see and do. Each day we walked the one hour lake loop which was located directly across from campground. The campground is very quiet and well maintained. No water hookups but fresh water was available to fill up your tank. Watch your voltage meter. We were here in a heat spell and our site voltage ran at the low end of safe. We shut off one A/C and kept an eye on things. We were only going to spend two days but ended up staying an extra day since this park was such a pleasure to stay at. Would definitely stay here again if we happen to be passing through. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground), Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The staff is very friendly. Gave us mints and plenty of handouts of what was happening locally in the area. Assigned us a clean & spacious RV spot. Quiet campground but winds really picked up during the middle of the night. Conveniently located to tourist attractions such as museums, prison & fairgrounds. Not sure if pool is closed temporarily or permanently. Great place for a stop over. We camped at Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground) in a Motorhome.

Jones High Country RV, Nephi, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The front office was very friendly. The maintenance man and his dog Molly were also very friendly. He told us what tourist sights we should see. The Campground is quiet. Our only complaint would be that the voltage was low. That could be because it was extremely hot and everyone was running their AC's. It is a good place for a stop over. We camped at Jones High Country RV in a Motorhome.
