We were looking for oceanfront camping in Maine. We are glad we found Orr's Island and this campground. The owners and seasonals are friendly and accommodating. The property is beautiful, with grassy sites. You must have a self-contained trailer as there is no bathhouse but all sites have full hookup. You can walk a path to a cove with a dock and swimming area from where you can set out in your kayak. Take a walk around the point and all you'll hear are the lobster boats and seagulls. We feasted on just- caught lobster and steamers. Then there were the sunrises and sunsets. Orr's Island is a jewel and this campground is a great way to experience it.

Easy access off I-95, gated entry, paved road. Lots of seasonal sites. We were here during the week and it was very quiet. You will hear the hum of traffic from I-95 but with a fan on inside at night it was not bothersome. Has a mix of open grassy sites with some shade as well as woodsy sites. If you want to be in the Wells/Ogunquit/York area and don't want to spend $50 and up to be out on Route 1, this is a good choice. You can be at Wells Beach in less than 10 minutes after a short drive on Route 1 south.
