San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA, Petaluma, California

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $105.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in site 144. It has a nice concrete patio, fire pit, wood bench and table. Lots of stuff for the kids to do. Bounce pillow, big playground, huge pool, etc. lots of improvements being made in the park. The park is unique because you can either stay in a heavily wooded area or in more open paved spots. If you can, try to stay in an end spot. They are huge. (by KOA standards) We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

Newport Dunes Waterfront RV Resort, Newport Beach, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $150.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a week there in a bay view site. Our site was plenty long enough for our 39' motorhome and still park our Jeep in the site. Sites are a little narrow but manageable. Easy to get in and out of although the roads do get tight when the campground is full. This is a great spot if your wanting to explore Newport. Disneyland is only 20 minutes away. Staff is nice but not overly friendly. Every site was cleaned and raked for the next visitor. Our kids love this place with lots to do. Our row of sites had a nice grassy area to hangout on while the kids played in the sand. The sites off the water are definitely tighter but cheaper. Only negative would be the utilities. Our post was loose and the sewer hook up is 8-10" off the ground which makes it hard to gravity drain the sewer. We camped at Newport Dunes Waterfront RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Back bay bistro is pretty good and a nice walk around the bay. The restaurant at the hotel next door was good too. But you're in Newport there are tons of good restaurants and things to do in the area. Plus it's only 20 minutes away from Disneyland.

Bakersfield RV Resort, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

Perfect option for a stop off if your traveling from Northern to Southern California. Right off the freeway with easy in and out. Long sites easy to get in and out of. We have a 39' motorhome and pull a 4 door Wrangler. I was able to stay hooked up. Sites are level. Only complaint would be the decomposed granite in the sites. It gets everywhere in the rv. It's across the street from a Camping World. Staff is very friendly they even escort you to your site at check in. Food was pretty good at the onsite restaurant. Plus they have a bar! We would stop here again in a heartbeat. We camped at Bakersfield RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Malibu Beach RV Park, Malibu, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 3 nights here in a back in mountain site. The ocean view sites have a great view but a very steep drop off not advisable for toddlers. We have a 36' Motorhome and we barely fit in the site (our bumper was touching the wood wall and we still stuck out on the street a little). At check in you get a 3 minute dissertation on all the campground rules. Which is ironic because the one thing they never discuss or enforce is the speed at which people travel tru the campground. People drive way to fast and the managers seem to be ok with it. But god forbid your child brings their scooter. No scoters allowed in the park and that is strictly enforced. Sites are very uneven and fairly close together. Our front tires were a good 6-8" off the ground. We were not able to connect to the WiFi. This is definitely not a destination campground. Most people just use it as a overnight stop as they are traveling the coast and I can see why. From Santa Monica to the campground PCH it is fairly tight but manageable if you take your time. Sadly we will not be back to this one. There are other options in the LA area that are worth the extra drive. There are a good amount of permanent (seasonal) rigs most are well kept. The Pro's the view from the campground is awesome and the seafood restaurant below the campground is very good. We camped at Malibu Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

There is a nice shopping center a few miles from the campground with a Ralph's Starbucks post office and CVS Lots of food options available on PCH Paradise Cove Restaurant was a fun place to eat on right on the beach. Casual and good for kids.

Gold Country Campground Resort, Pine Grove, California

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We just got back from the Campground today. We spent the weekend here and had a blast. This is definitely a great RVing family destination. Pool was clean, water park was great, new playground that the 4-year-old loved. The campgrounds were super clean. Staff was really friendly. They had arts and crafts for the kids in their rec/arcade room. They even had a toddler area, sectioned off for the real little ones. Full hookups including cable TV. Campsites were gravel/dirt but all the roads are newly paved. We will definitely be back again. We camped at Gold Country Campground Resort in a Motorhome.

Harmony Ridge Resort (Members Only Park), Nevada City, California

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

Don't waste your time looking at this campground if you are not a member. I had to call for 2 days to finally talk to someone who then told me that you have to be a member to stay at the campground. I understand the whole membership thing but they do not say anything about this on there website. We camped at Harmony Ridge Resort (Members Only Park) in a Motorhome.
