Seaport RV Resort, Old Mystic, Connecticut

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice RV park. The sites are large and level, adequate for a class "A" & toad, and wide enough for multiple slideouts. OK, they're gravel / stone but I didn't need any leveling blocks for set-up. Yes, there are seasonal campers but the rigs are nice and well maintained, not trashed-out and tarp covered as in some cg's we've stayed at. The only reason this doesn't get a "10" is the lack of sewer hookups. But it's a minor issue since the cg has a pump-out service every 3 days. We camped at Seaport RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is the closest campground to Mystic. Must-sees are Mystic Seaport, the Aquarium, Submarine Museum, and downtown Mystic. Lattitudes at Mystic Seaport is good for lunch. Parking in downtown Mystic can be tight, one day even the municipal lot was full.

Hinsdale Village, Hinsdale, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

It didn't start well - we arrived at 4:00PM and our assigned site was still occupied. After we set up in a new site we asked about cable tv. It's satellite tv and it's a $50 cash deposit for the box, but the lady in the office waived it since I rarely carry cash anymore. The site was OK, not a pull-through since there was a big electrical box at the back end. Laundry was one washer and one dryer in an outside shed, we went to the town of Hinsdale instead. There is also a pool that we didn't use. This is mostly a seasonals campground with a few unshaded transient sites, and the seasonals act like they own it. During the week it was OK, but on Friday the weekend seasonals arrived with their ATV's and partying well after midnight. We actually turned our AC fan on just for some drowning background noise. Saturday was a repeat of Friday, maybe not as noisy but it ran just as late. We left at 9:00AM Sunday, but when I tried to drop off the satellite box there was no one in the office. A call to the "24 hour" number went to voicemail, so I just left the box inside the screen door. As a side, as we were packing up one of the full-time seasonals actually apologized for the noise and stated he was getting a bit tired of the weekenders also. We camped at Hinsdale Village in a Travel Trailer.

North Pole Resorts, Wilmington, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We normally stay at a State (DEC) no-hookup campground but will treat ourselves to this full-hookup one on occasion. The 100 Acre Woods side is the newer section with 50A, pull-through, and vegetation separation between the sites. We camped at North Pole Resorts in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The hosts / owners / staff are very attentive to camper's issues, even going so far as to have some bikers walk their rides to the entrance before starting them. Rates are for 2 adults and 2 children, if you have visitors it may be cheaper to register them as guests. The campground store has all the essentials. There's an A&W restaurant and ice cream shop within walking distance and the town park / beach is close by.

Chapman Dam State Park, Clarendon, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We use this campground (the pet-free loop) as a base for canoe trips on the Allegheny river. The sites are electric-only but there are water faucets available as well as a dump station. Being a PA state park it's alcohol-free so you don't get loud parties. We camped at Chapman Dam State Park in a Travel Trailer.
