Imagine parking your RV at a drive-in movie theater without a movie screen. This best describes Bethpage Camp Resort. The majority of sites are located in a sparsely planted pine field where you can't even imagine that the park is anywhere near the water. All of the waterfront sites are occupied by permanent trailers and therefore aren't available to motorhomes. I'm all for walking, but you probably will need to rent a golf cart to get to the facilities. On the plus side, the place is well-maintained. The sites are large and level. The facilities are clean and well equiped. The field we were in had unpaved sites. Unless you have a boat and wish to stay for use of their ramp, there really isn't much else to do at the campground that you couldn't do inland at non-resort rates. From your site you'll see about as much waterfront as you would camping in Kansas.

This was a very good park. The staff were friendly and made sure at reservation time that they would be able to accommodate my 39' rig plus tow vehicle - I'm finding that most parks are too optimistic. The park was well maintained and attractive with the river running through it. The location was great for trips to places of interest (e.g., Chimney Rock, Biltmore Estate, etc.).
