Aztec RV Resort, Margate, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $120.00
Overall Rating:

Aztec RV Resort is one of the nicest lot ownership RV resorts we have stayed at, comparable to other luxury motorcoach resorts we've stayed at in Indio, California, Las Vegas, Nevada, and two others here in Florida. When we made a reservation several months ago and got an email confirmation in French, we quickly realized we would be staying at a resort that caters to French Canadians. Upon check-in, the manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The entrance and common area landscaping is outstanding, but the spacious length and width of the sites was what was unbelievable. Each rental site has paver bricks, but lacks any patio furniture. Aztec has numerous amenities, including pools, spas, fitness center, tennis courts, etc. The laundry room washers and dryers used tokens and cost $2.50 per load. Wifi is only available at the office, but our personal Verizon MiFi worked well. Aztec is Good Sam rated, but only offers a Good Sam discount for the first night. Our site was on the "inner" circle of the resort, closer to the clubhouse and other facilities, and hence more expensive than staying at a site on the "outer" circle of the resort. We camped at Aztec RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Alsatian Resort & Golf Club, Castroville, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Alsatian RV Resort is a well-managed, well-maintained resort with friendly, helpful staff. Check-in went very smoothly with Chastity the office manager. Every site has a large, level concrete pad with full hookup and beautiful landscaping. The RV resort club house offers full spa services. There is a very good restaurant, "The Hideaway", adjacent to the outdoor spa and infinity pool. We planned to host our son's wedding in their outdoor pavilion in late-November, but the weather suddenly turned cold. The restaurant managers Jayme and Les went way out of their way to accommodate us and hold the wedding indoors and the reception in the restaurant. We have stayed here four times since October and will stay here again, as we feel it is positively the best RV resort in the San Antonio area. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

Victoria Palms Resort, Donna, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Victoria Palms Resort is a very well-managed 55+ RV resort with friendly, helpful staff. Each site has a large concrete pad with full hookups, including cable TV. The resort WiFi network is very good, even at the back of the park where we stayed. We felt safe with the resort gate security. In addition to the swimming pools, outdoor spas, craft center, and countless other amenities, it also has a full restaurant and event center. We have stayed here several times before, and will stay here again, as we feel it is the best RV resort in the Rio Grande Valley. We camped at Victoria Palms Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many excellent restaurants and shopping nearby on the I-2 / Hwy 83 corridor. Nearby Progreso, Mexico is fun to visit for lunch and shopping, where you park on the U.S. side and walk across the bridge to Progreso.

Lockhart State Park, Lockhart, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

It's a beautiful, well-maintained state park with a swimming pool, public 9-hole golf course, and small campground. There are 10-sites with full hookup and 10-sites with water and electric. It was very quiet there and we saw many deer and wild turkeys wandering across the fairway in front of our camp site. The nightly rate of $21 does not include a $3/day per person state park entry fee. Still a great price at $27/day for a FHU site. We camped at Lockhart State Park in a Motorhome.

Lockhart, population 13,000, is the BBQ capital of Texas. We tried all four BBQ restaurants and were not disappointed. We were truly impressed with architecture of the county courthouse built in 1894 and the library built in 1898.

Quiet Creek RV Resort, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet Creek is a new RV resort with excellent amenities. The owners were very friendly and helpful with good tips for visiting Fredericksburg. The RV sites were long and level with some elbow room with your neighbors. All sites, except a few back-in sites on the very last row, had afternoon shade on the curb-side of your RV. The WiFi was the best we've seen in almost 20 years of camping. The cable TV with 16 channels of high-definition TV was outstanding. We did not use the laundry room, shower house or pool. Quiet Creek was very convenient to Fredericksburg, only 1.4 miles away. The only problem we had was finding the RV resort entrance when coming from Fredericksburg on U.S.87, especially after dark. We definitely would stay here again. We camped at Quiet Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Hacienda RV Resort, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight here based on reviews and Big Rigs Best Bets book. We selected an extra-long site since we're 65-feet long, towing our car. Easy off/on I-10. The site was gravel but level. Nice facilities and friendly, helpful front desk staff. Great recommendation for dinner at the nearby La Posta Mexican restaurant. We definitely would stay again when passing through Las Cruces. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Hilltop RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

In our opinion, the best RV park in Fort Stockton. Easy off/on I-10. Paved road to campground, hard packed gravel, level sites. Big rig friendly. Sparkling clean facilities. WiFi worked well. Set back far enough from the interstate that there was very little noise. Awesome view of the mountains in the distance and sunsets. We stay here every time we pass through Fort Stockton. We camped at Hilltop RV Park in a Motorhome.

Grand Lake RV & Golf Resort, Citra, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Grand Lake RV & Golf Resort is about 5-miles east of I-75 north of Ocala in Orange, so you have no Interstate traffic noise. We overnighted here and had a long pull-through site. The resort roads are paved asphalt, but very narrow. The sites are paved with concrete pads and asphalt drives to the pad. Previous reviewers mentioned low hanging tree branches, but we didn't have any problems. However, we did have a problem with the 50-amp power. One leg only had 108-volts and our portable energy management box prevented low-voltage damage to our RV. It was going to take time to fix the problem so the office moved us to another site. Picnic tables need updating. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Grand Lake RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Riverbend Motorcoach Resort, LaBelle, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at RiverBend Luxury Motorcoach Resort for a week over the New Year. Each lot is about 50 x 100-feet and has full hookups with cable TV, and telephone and DCL connections. Although WiFi doesn't reach the individual lots, it is available in all the facilities or you can sign up for the DSL service. Our Verizon MiFi worked great. RiverBend is an ownership resort with many lots available to rent. Nearly all have extensive landscaping. The resort facilities are simply outstanding. They have a beautiful clubhouse with bar and restaurant right on the Caloosahatchee River, boat docks, a nature center, store, large heated pool, good sized laundry, and many organized community activities. There is an extensive model railroad layout, dirt racetrack for electric or gas-powered cars, and four lakes. Every person we encountered at RiverBend were friendly and happy to be there. We definitely will return next year. We camped at Riverbend Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Alsatian Resort & Golf Club, Castroville, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Alsatian is a brand-new RV resort that opened in September 2014. Every RV site has 30/50-amp service, water, sewer, cable, free Wi-Fi, and a 40-foot concrete level pad, plus long concrete drive on each end of the pad. Amenities included a pool, spa, outstanding new bathhouse and laundry ($1.50 for washers and $1 for dryers). The RV resort club house included spa services and a very good restaurant, “The Hideaway”, open for lunch and dinner Wednesday-Sunday. We enjoyed lunch one day and the food was outstanding. The resort is located on a golf course, with green fee and golf cart discounts offered to RV resort guests. Check-in was smooth and the manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome. We paid $55 for a peak season deluxe pull-thru site, but back-in sites were $40 and $45. Nine sites, facing the golf course and small lake, included casitas with covered porch, patio furniture, grill, refrigerator, outside wall mounted flat-panel TV, inside office area and bathroom shower. We will definitely return as this is by far the absolute best RV resort in the San Antonio area. We camped at Alsatian Resort & Golf Club in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Paid the extra $ for a riverfront site and wasn't disappointed. Full hook-ups with 50 amp. Big rig friendly. As previous reviewers stated, there is an extremely short stretch of road coming in that is getting a bit crumbly, but presents absolutely no obstacle. There is some train noise (far away) and the noise of the barges going by at night, but I don't mind those types of sounds and my husband, who usually complains about the slightest noise, slept undisturbed. Convenient to all that Memphis has to offer. Just a few miles off both I-40 and I-55. We will definitely stay again when in the area. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Maumelle COE, Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful COE campground with electric and water and big rig friendly (some sites have 50 amp, some are 30). The road into the park is a bit narrow with sections that had no shoulder, but the tricky part only lasts about a mile and was not a big enough problem to pass this park up. We had a riverside site with plenty of elbow room and a lovely view with big shady trees surrounding our rig. Although the setting is quiet and serene, you are within minutes of the nicest Kroger grocery store I've ever been in, plus restaurants and shopping a short drive away. Next time we're in the area we will, without hesitation, stay here again. We camped at Maumelle COE in a Motorhome.

Nashville KOA, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

Park is pricey, but well maintained with good amenities and close proximity to Nashville and Grand Ole Opry. However; have you ever pulled up to a stoplight only to have someone next to you blaring their expensive stereo system and all you hear AND feel is the heavy thump of the bass? For the space of a minute or two you are supremely annoyed. Well, we endured this on Saturday night for over four hours. This KOA has a "conference center" they rent out for parties. Saturday's party came complete with a large crowd, a DJ and an amplification system. We contacted the after hours "manager" who flippantly told us he was sorry we didn't like it and that quiet hours started at 10:00 pm. To their credit the music did stop promptly at 10:00 pm, however, we felt the loud music was over the top and it made for a miserable evening in our RV. Because of this, we won't be back. We camped at Nashville KOA in a Motorhome.

Fleming Park/Blue Springs Campground, Blue Springs, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Blue Springs County Park is a well maintained campground. It is easy on and off I-470, about 3 miles south of I-70 just east of Kansas City, MO. There is no traffic noise, many trees and open grassy areas. Some of the sites have full hook-ups and are long enough for big rigs. We stayed in site #13 in the East Loop, but there are many good FHU sites in the West Loop suitable for big rigs. Our site was long and level, but we noticed that many sites nearby sloped down from the paved road to the back of the site which could be a problem leveling your RV. We stayed for 3 nights this trip and will definitely stay again. We camped at Fleming Park/Blue Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Sundermeier RV Park, Saint Charles, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Park is located approximately 28 miles from downtown St. Louis. The pads are concrete, level and a generous size. Neighbors are somewhat close, but no problem putting your awning out. Our rig is almost 44' and we had plenty of space to park it plus our tow. Check-in personnel were friendly and efficient. We didn't use the laundry or showers, but the building looked clean and well cared for. Only drawback was the price and lack of amenities. There is no pool and the restaurant on site was closed. Easy on and off from the highway. WiFi was included in the price and worked well. We camped at Sundermeier RV Park in a Motorhome.
