We really enjoyed our 3 nights here. Didn't have a reservation but Florida SP's apparently keep some number of sites open for drive-ups. The sites were somewhat open to the sun but the view was great and kids could drive their bikes to the playground. Our entry pass also got us into the beach parking lot across the bridge which allowed us to play all afternoon on the beach for with only a 2 minute drive.

Stayed here 3 nights and was very nice although kind of wet due to some heavy rains the week before. The dump station was closed when we visited due to high water levels. A nice, pretty but plain campground. A pleasant drive to it from the north. Was reasonably close to Charleston and the area around it. Took at least 15 minutes to get to the nearest grocery or restaurant if memory serves.

Date of Stay:

We stayed here at the beginning of February, had snow on the ground! Only one or two other campers in the whole park. Used it as a base for going into Smithsonian and other DC sites. One day took the Metro train in from nearby station and parked car at station. Next day drove the car into capital area. Nice wooded campground with good buffer between other roads. Various stores and grocery choices just outside the park. Right off highway.
