Santa Cruz North / Costanoa KOA , Pescadero, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful location and setting. Park is very well maintained. Stayed in a pull through premium site which was very narrow and close to the neighboring site. No cell phone reception which would be less of an issue if the Wi-Fi in the park was working, which it wasn't. All of the equipment is there but no signal. Park staff advised us the signal is "sketchy" but my suspicion is it was turned off in the RV area for the off season. At check in we were given a full page of rules to follow. Most are common sense but each rule is followed with a dollar amount for the fine that would be levied for violations up to $350, REALLY!! Park is not dog friendly as dogs are limited to a defined area, ($350 fine for violation). In fairness I didn't see anyone being harassed over a violation but then most RV folks are decent people who just want to enjoy themselves and not annoy others. I would hope management rethinks the monetary fine matter and just makes sure the advertised services are functional. We camped at Santa Cruz North / Costanoa KOA in a Motorhome.

Ventura Beach RV Resort, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

I am always reluctant to write a negative review but this place deserves it. Stayed over 4th of July and clearly the focus is on squeezing as much money as possible from the guests. Made reservations 7 months ahead for a "premium" site and was given a spot that barely fit my coach let alone my towed. RVs were jammed together wherever there was an open spot of ground. Constant traffic and commotion from people trying to maneuver through the narrow roads. Too many people, noise, smoke and dogs off leash. We camped at Ventura Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Morro Bay State Park, Morro Bay, California

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this campground several years ago in a smaller rv and were eager to return. This time the rig was bigger and the sites seemed smaller. Overall the campground is showing serious neglect with overgrown bushes crowding the campsites. I have many new scratches down the sides of the rig just from trying to pull into my site. I can't imagine there isn't a CCC crew that wouldn't love to spend a few days there. We camped at Morro Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The marina is just across from the campground along with the "Bayside Cafe" which has good food. Kayak rentals are available there too. Several good nature walks are in the vicinity and a beautiful golf course is just next door. The Embarcadero, (waterfront shops and restaurants) and Morro Rock are a short drive away.

Santa Cruz Monterey Bay KOA, Watsonville, California

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

Have stayed in this park at least once a year for the last 5. They have made a number of upgrades and additions since last visit. Lots of new bungalows and Airstream trailers to rent. My only issue relates to the premium pull through spaces for big rigs. The asphalt pads are old and non level. The landscaping in that area needed attention with weeds a couple of feet tall. The Wi-Fi was weak at best and not available for large periods of time even though we were parked next to the antenna. Our satellite antenna was blocked by tall trees, (not complaining just pointing out the limitation.) and cell phone service was limited as well. The staff has remained as friendly and helpful as ever. This place is a paradise for children with all of the available services geared toward them. We camped at Santa Cruz Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

Jackson Rancheria RV Park, Jackson, California

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park should be the standard by which all RV parks are measured by. The internal roads are wide and the sites generous. Everything was sparkling clean and in good repair. Staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The rates were a good value by California standards. The only negative that I can point out is that trees are young and provide little shade at this point. If going there during the warm season it's a good idea to request a site where the sun is on the back side of your rig in the afternoon. We camped at Jackson Rancheria RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Casitas Recreation Area, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We have visited this site twice now and a couple of things we noticed on the first trip were still present on the second. The entrance is extremely tight for a large RV and you have to pay attention to the low overhang in one of the lanes. Likewise exiting you must be very careful because the lane is barely 8 feet wide with objects on both sides. For some reason they won't open a large gate at the entrance which would make it much easier. They provide no maps to your site and little information on getting there. We stayed in Campground A which is RV sites placed around a very large parking lot. No cable TV and no Wi-Fi. The market is located on the other side of the lake and quite a walk away. The good is that it is very well maintained and clean. Be aware you will need your water pressure regulator as pressure is high. We camped at Lake Casitas Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Santa Cruz North / Costanoa KOA , Pescadero, California

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second trip to this campground and most likely the last. The camp is beautiful but the pull through sites are so narrow and close together that it felt like a parking lot. We travel with our dog and were restricted to walking her in a fairly small area. No dog run either. Definitely not dog friendly. We were near a tent camping area which was noisy all weekend. Wi-Fi was very weak. TV signal and channel selection was poor. Overall not bad but not just not someplace I really want to return to. We camped at Santa Cruz North / Costanoa KOA in a Motorhome.

Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Beautiful park, well maintained, very clean and quiet. Park management demonstrates great pride in the product and service they provide. Facilities are first rate everywhere. Only potential issue is they don't accept credit cards for reservations or payment. We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Bandon By The Sea RV Park, Bandon, Oregon

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

An odd mix of RV spaces and what appears to be extended stay and full timers. Staff was friendly and helpful and facilities were in good working order. Somewhat bare in appearance as landscaping is young and minimal, not what you would expect in Oregon. Location is distant from just about everything. No access to beach and no views. We camped at Bandon By The Sea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Expensive but a very pleasant campground. Staff was friendly, helpful and everything was very clean and orderly. One of the best run campgrounds I've seen. Pretty much everything you will need can be found on site. We will definitely visit again. We camped at Santa Cruz Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

Zephyr Cove Resort RV Park & Campground, Zephyr Cove, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean and well maintained. The only issue we had was the WiFi frequently wasn't working. They really pack things in closely. The sites are very close together and the internal roads can be challenging for even a moderate sized rig. A lot of road noise from Hwy 50 detracts from the experience. A small market would be a big help as well as an area where dogs could run free. Would stay here again. We camped at Zephyr Cove Resort RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
