Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs, Saco, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in the process of being developed into a destination spot. Once the pools are complete, it should be nice. There are nice cabins as well. The RV park is gravel with full hook ups. Very dry here. They have had a drought so it's not attractive. No WiFi. Verizon phones work. The weather was windy and cold so we were not outside much. Had we wanted to use the fire ring, we would have had to clean it as it was full of butts and other junk. We camped at Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs in a Motorhome.

Hoisington RV Park, Hoisington, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This rv park is run by a Recreation center in this small town. The spaces are located behind the rec center and have electricity and water. You are parking on the paved lot and the slots are designed to back in. Since we didn't want to unhook we used site one and pulled along side it. The 50 amp didn't work so we used site 2. We were so thankful to find the park and get out ofthe wind. It was very quiet and along side a big field where we could exercise our dog. We camped at Hoisington RV Park in a Motorhome.

Grand Falls Casino, Larchwood, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We were so thankful to find this spot. Family emergency in Sioux Falls and during Sturgeous and Fair. Nothing was available. We really lucked out to stay here. Such very nice people. They even let me exercise my dog on the driving range. Beautiful golf course, fabulous buffet, and OK slots. Very convenient for us to Avera Hosp. Small park but surrounded by lovely farms and green golf course. We camped at Grand Falls Casino in a Motorhome.

Memorial Park Campground, Huron, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Despite making a reservation with credit card several days in advance, we arrived to find that we didn't have a place to park. Our space was given to another person. I also noticed they have quite a few homesteaders there. Hard to understand why we couldn't have just two nights when others had been there for months. The sites are located in a city park. The surrounding area is very attractive. However, the RV sites are not very well maintained. Some sites have picnic tables and others do not. Some are very close and others have a bit more space. We waited there for several hours while they tried to find a space for us, but the clerk who managed reservations was away from her desk. I cannot recommend the park to others as there does not seem to be a reservation system in place. We camped at Memorial Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Marion Campground & RV Park, Marion, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed one night. It is a small campground with lots of grass and a big playground. The back in-sites are very spacious. The lady running it is very nice and goes out of her way for her guests. We camped at Marion Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We got turned around trying to find the park. It is right off the freeway. You turn left at Casey's Gas Station which is across the from the VA Medical Center. It was a perfect place to spend the night.

James H. (Sloppy) Floyd State Park, Summerville, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Amazing sites. Very large with picnic tables and fire pits. Just 25 sites surrounded by huge pine trees. There are hiking trails and a fishing lake. A great place to stay. We wanted to visit lookout Mountain near Chattanooga. It was 53 miles away and not a problem to get there. Also huge battleground in Lafayette - about 20 miles. Roads into the park are narrow but paved and we had no problems. Our site was paved because it was an Handicap Site. The others are gavel and level. Park has backin and pull throughs. There is no sewer but they have a dump station. We camped at James H. (Sloppy) Floyd State Park in a Motorhome.

Creekside RV Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very small spaces. Lots of traffic in the park. Trolly comes through several times a day. I worry about children on bikes. Not dog friendly. You have to walk through camping sites to access the dog walk area. I can't recommend the park for either overnight or long stays. The small sites make sitting outside impossible. We camped at Creekside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pipestem Resort State Park, Pipestem, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Such a lovely park and so much to do. A family could enjoy an entire vacation here. Surrounded by mountains and tall trees. There is a Tram to take you down to the river. 3 Lodges and each has a dining room. There is golf, summing pool, lake for canoes/fishing. Our space was tight but we enjoyed it. Next time we will stay in a pull through rather than the back-in. We camped at Pipestem Resort State Park in a Motorhome.

Just be sure and ask for a pull thru if you are in a larger RV. Also be sure and visit the lodge to find out what is going on. There is an ampitheater with live entertainment and we didn't know it. Also horseback riding and hay rides. Really wonderful park.

Flatwoods KOA, Sutton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Surrounded by trees and grass. Very well maintained. Huge play area for kids. Sites are quite nice with a concrete patio and table. I was sad that we were only there overnight. Checking in is quite confusing. The Days Inn motel runs the KOA. Just as we were pulling in the entrance we spotted the sign that said not to enter until registering at the mohtel. We were towing so that was not possible. We called the hotel and they insisted we come up there. We had to unhook and that was not what we were planning to do. So the signage is not good. Hard to find the KOA. Tiny signs about where to register and no properly posted.

Huge play ground. Lovely surroundings. There is an ampitheater there and I'm not sure how it works for campers. It's huge but not much was working. We camped at Flatwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Washington / Pittsburgh SW KOA, Washington, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

There are not many choices in the area. It was quiet and we were surrounded by trees and grass. There was a nice fenced dog play area. There is a paved road to the park. The road is narrow but it's pretty typical for this part of the counry. The spaces are too close to allow outside enjoyment: picnics and just sitting outside. We were visiting relatives and not staying there during the day. The office people were nice and ready to give directions. The park is well maintained. We camped at Washington / Pittsburgh SW KOA in a Motorhome.

Ho-Chunk RV Resort (formerly Crockett's Resort Camping & RV Park), Lyndon Station, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

What a nice place to stay. The spaces are not close and there is a fire pit (really nice one), and a really nice picnic table. It's paved and the pull through was long. We received a key card for the rest rooms and pool at the hotel. Frequent security came through. Lots of green grass and places to walk the dog. I would give them a 10 if there was a fenced dog area. The Casino is very nice and their buffet is a great bargain. We camped at Ho-Chunk RV Resort (formerly Crockett's Resort Camping & RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed Wisconsin Dells. There are so many water parks there. Great place for a family vacation. We enjoyed the River Boat ride. It was so comfortable and informative. We also enjoyed the casino and especially the very reasonable (about $15.00) buffet. People were friendly and helpful. There was also a free car show at the Casino and a free show about the Native American Tribe.

Wolfie's Campground, Zanesville, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Like most campgrounds in this part of the country - it's hilly with a narrow road to the campground. We held our breath that no one was coming down the mountain because there was certainly no room! The spaces were quite close and kind of confusing to tell gravel road from space. It's probably fine for a family vacation but not a good idea for just one night.
And there are the list of rules - one of which tells people to call the owner immediately if you hear cursing. Call day or night they say. I stayed inside for fear of stubbing my toe and saying $#%**%%. We camped at Wolfie's Campground in a Motorhome.

I am so glad they had a place for us. It was nice being surrounded by grass. The fairgrounds provided lots of good walking. Our dog enjoyed those walks too. If you stay for a few days you should go into Holton. It's a great place to shop for antiques and there a a wonderful old time variety store in the courthouse square. Go see St. Dominic Catholic Church, the stained glass windows are amazing. If you play golf, there is a wonderful course at the casino.
