Ross County Fairgrounds, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

There were no events going on when we camped here, so it was very quiet. There are only 2 or 3 sites with shade and we were able to get one of them which made for pleasant camping. Manager was friendly and helpful. We spent a week here visiting relatives nearby and were very happy with the pleasant surroundings and quiet. No full hookup sites, but there is a dump station. Although the fairgrounds are several miles outside of Chillicothe, there is a convenience store and gas station nearby with a small farm stand that sells fresh fruit and vegetables at a reasonable price. We liked it and will return. We camped at Ross County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Campground advertises that it is open year around. We camped here at the end of December and beginning of January. Owner was impossible to find when we wanted to pay her for additional nights and did not answer phone calls. Although the campground was quiet and fairly clean, there was no laundry, no restrooms open, no water, no computer hookup as the office was always closed and locked. We have also stayed here in the summer when restrooms are open, but office is still closed most of the time and the "swimming" pond is slimy. Overall, we find the owner/manager a poor camp host. Expect to pay extra for everything from ac to heat, water, and day visitors. We would only stay here again if all other options were ruled out. We camped at Sun Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Gila Bend KOA (formerly Augie's Quail Trail RV Park), Gila Bend, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2006 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a new park just outside of Gila Bend, AZ. They do accept Passport America for the first two night's stay. We found the campground to be very nicely planned. Sites were extra large with nice young landscaping started. We liked the fact that the sites were angled so that we didn't look into our neighbors windows! We also liked that the lights at night were spaced out and did not obliterate the beautiful night sky. One of our pet peeves is bright street lights shining into our RV at night. There's a new clubhouse with a big screen tv, comfortable seating, modem hookups and a public computer and printer. Although we could only stay for two nights this trip, we would consider a weekly stay (at $105/week). There are some planned activities like movie nights and pot luck suppers. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We camped at Gila Bend KOA (formerly Augie's Quail Trail RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Ross County Fairgrounds, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: November, 2005 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This fairgrounds is open to campers all year. Phone: 740-775-5083. They provide water and electric for $10 a night. It's only a few miles out of Chillicothe on Rt. 23. We found it quiet and clean. It was a nice, inexpensive place to stay overnight or for a few days. During the fair (first 2 weeks of August) and Labor Day weekend, all campsites are reserved well in advance. Other times of year, there are few campers. Check with the caretaker at the above phone number about any events that might affect camping. We camped at Ross County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Singing Hills RV Park & Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: November, 2005 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here off-season at the end of November, 2005. The campground was nearly empty, very well maintained and quiet. Water, electric and sewer available. Getting past the registration area and into the campground was a little tight, but interior roads were fine. Campground is close to Mammoth Cave NP. Owner was friendly and helpful, providing good information on the local attractions. This is a Passport America park. We camped at Singing Hills RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2005 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, clean, well maintained campground. It's particularly nice in the summer because of the shady sites and quiet location. The pond looks nice, but it's small and is not really a nice swimming area. The modem hookup advertised is in the office and not convenient to use since the office is locked much of the time. Although they advertise that they are open all year, there is no water in the winter, and the restrooms and showers are closed. We also camped there in February and had to run a hose from the owners house to fill our water tank (for an extra charge). We camped at Sun Valley Campground in a Motorhome.
