Lake Guntersville State Park, Guntersville, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2006 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Park is in a beautiful setting, but had a really strange layout. Pull through sites were small and the utility hook-ups were on the wrong side, e.g. facing uphill rather than the lake. The view toward the lake looked through the Storage Area in the section we were in. With only a 29 foot trailer, you had to park the truck crossways in front of the trailer and we were so close to the road that we were afraid that someone would speed through and hit the trailer. Good hiking trails in the park and lots of deer. We camped at Lake Guntersville State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2005 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Great park for families although there are not amusement activities (playgrounds) for children. Campsites are divided between the Atlantic Beach area with fishing pier, ocean beach, and no shade; and the Amelia River area with jungle setting and riverfront (no swimming due to current). Six miles of bicycle/hiking trails. Separate in-line skate trail and Civil War era fort within park. Ultra-clean bathrooms but not heated. Close to town. I would expect the Amelia River sites to be super-buggy in the summer, but it is Florida. We camped at Fort Clinch State Park in a Travel Trailer.
