Bolsa Chica State Beach, Huntington Beach, California

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great one! It is tightly packed, but the sites on the ocean side are right on the beach. The bike path goes straight in to downtown Huntington Beach (a couple miles away). We camped at Bolsa Chica State Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Live Oak Campground (Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park), San Juan Capistrano, California

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

It is about a 20 minute drive to the PCH and surrounded by forest, this campground is incredibly isolated. During the week, there were just a couple of campsites occupied, but the weekend was completely full. It is a pretty decent campground with few amenities. We camped at Live Oak Campground (Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park) in a Motorhome.

Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, Santee, California

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is the nicest campground in the Santee area. It is in great shape, the staff is attentive, and it has every amenity possible. About a half hour from downtown San Diego, it is much more affordable than other San Diego area campgrounds. The fee reflects the discounted monthly rate. We camped at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve in a Travel Trailer.
