Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Had never heard of this park but decided to give a try. This is a wooded campground. Like you're in the woods right off the beach. Lots of tree cover and undergrowth between the sites. For me that's a plus! We stayed on site 47, which was flat and plenty wide. Noticed some sites that weren't as wide, others bigger. The site was clean with nice, newer hookups. The bath houses were older but the camp host cleaned them daily or even several times per day. They still show their age so don't fret when you first see them. They could use some repair but very usable. There are only two washer and dryers in the park. Expect to wait on them. Short bike ride to the beach which was also clean. Nice playground for kids and couple of fresh water lakes. Bike trails everywhere but none paved. Camp store had what we needed. Staff was friendly and seemed ready to help. This is a City of Jacksonville park. They don't advertise it to get people from all over it's meant for the people of Jacksonville. Expect the traffic to increase closer to the weekend. Ignore the "officers lounge" outside the entrance. It'll give you a bad vibe but we never heard anything from the place and I'm fairly certain it's a strip club. When you first see it'll make you wonder if you're in a sketchy campground but that wasn't the case. Security rode around at night and watched the main entrance gate. We plan on going back for sure! We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Travel Trailer.

River Falls at the Gorge, Lakemont, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Park is older but seems the new owners are trying to bring it back. We stayed in the A camp which is close to the 441 bridge so it was a little loud but not unbearable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Not somewhere I'd want to stay a week but good spot for a weekend get away. We camped at River Falls at the Gorge in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Creek Campground and Whitewater Outfitters, Mill Spring, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We made a reservation to stay here and had a late arrival. Upon arrival we were given a site number and sent along our way. The first site we saw had a broken down truck on it with flat tires and cans running over in the bed. The bath house didn't look like anything I would let my children go in. Lot's of campers looked like they had been there for ages. The roads were rough and in need of repair. We decided to leave, and as we pulled up to the office there were two people outside, and the first thing I heard was, "What's wrong" and not in a friendly way. I informed them it wasn't what was advertised, and the male told the female to give us our money back. She complained and gripped the entire time trying to make me feel like I had done something wrong. Never did get a refund since I made an online reservation. I hope these people get this place cleaned up; it looked as if it could be a really nice campground with some work. Most of all I hope the lady there gets a better attitude towards customers. We camped at Silver Creek Campground and Whitewater Outfitters in a Travel Trailer.

Riverbend RV Park, Lake Toxaway, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here many times and the owner and camp host are always gracious and ready to help. It's a small park, quiet and always clean. The kids love to play in the creek catching crawdads. There is plenty of room to walk the dog. Never yet had a bad experience here. We camped at Riverbend RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
