Canyon Trail RV Park, Boulder City, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects Good Sam Discount. This is a great park. The owners are friendly and helpful, the sites are large with easy access wide roads. The sites are gravel but this is a desert park and should be expected the roads are paved. The laundry is huge and reasonably priced. The only small issue is low water pressure. We stayed for 5 nights and would return again for overnight or monthly stay. We camped at Canyon Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Zion West RV Park, Leeds, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

The rate reflects the monthly rate divided by 30 days. This is a nice park if you are passing through the area going either direction on I-15. Calling it big rig friendly is a bit of a stretch as the roads are narrow and trees overhang low in many spaces. The sewer connections do not have a screw in so your connection is always loose and they are tall, off the ground. Be aware, if you do not like dogs this is not a park for you. The owners have a dog that runs loose, and the town does not enforce leash laws if they have them. Also some of the permanent residents will stake their dogs out and ignore them while the dog sits outside and barks and whines for hours. We were here for 2 months. We camped at Zion West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ely KOA, Ely, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The Ely KOA is a great base camp for the east central area of Nevada. The park hosts are friendly and know the area. The park roads and sites are gravel which helps keep the dust down as this is high desert and very dry. Some of the sites have a small grassy area but we opted for the all gravel sites. Our site was large enough to park the truck next to the rig with room to walk around without bumping into slides. There was also room for the picnic table and chairs. Most sites had mature shade trees and at night it was a very quite park. We will be staying again when we are in the area. We camped at Ely KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain Shadows RV Park, Wells, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park in need of some TLC. It would be a great stop over for one or two nights but we will not be staying here again as the sites were to narrow for us to have all our slides out. The park roads and sites are gravel. Most sites have a tree but this is high desert and the trees are short which caused the problems with our slide. If you are in a smaller rig this is a great place to overnight, larger rigs need to pass this one by. We camped at Mountain Shadows RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Dillon KOA, Dillon, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The owners of this campground are very nice and know the area well. When you stay ask and they will guide you to all sorts of interesting places to visit in the area. The only drawbacks to the campground are the narrow roads and the sites are on a hill which could be a problem for some to find a level spot. The roads and sites are gravel and there is a grassy area at each site. Most have shade. We would stay here again. We camped at Dillon KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Columbia Falls RV Park, Columbia Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We spent two months here and as others have said it is the best park in the Columbia Falls area. The owners are fantastic, the park and facilities are clean and well maintained, and it is close to all the activities in the Flathead Valley area and Glacier national park. The only drawback to the park is the sites are close in the extended stay area but not so much it is claustrophobic. We would stay again. The rate reflects a monthly rate divided by 30 days and does not include electricity. We camped at Columbia Falls RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lighthouse RV Resort, Melissa, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

An old and tired park but serviceable. Our site was to short and just barely wide enough with our slides extended. The site was level enough for our leveling system but caused problems for others who arrived and had to manually level the rig with blocks. The nearest street light was working but many on the grounds were out. Grass was mowed only twice during our 6 week stay. Managers offered a cool reception. On a scale of 1 to 5 when they first meet you they rate a 2 and once they get to know you it is about a 3. The streets are in poor repair, made of black top with holes repaired with loose rock. Bathrooms were old and tired but were as clean as they could be considering the age. Water was acceptable, electrical did not cause us any problems. We received local channels in Digital from the Dallas TX. service area. Laundry is a mix of older and newer machines. In general they leave towels, shorts and socks damp. $1.00 to $1.25 per machine depending on the age of the machine. We camped at Lighthouse RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
