Cabela's RV Park & Campground, Sidney, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This park is fine if you just want to pull in, sleep and leave. It is clean, sites are well spaced, and it is convenient to the highway. Although there was a wi-if signal, we had no internet access, and there were no attendants on duty. There is no shade to be found and highway noise can be a problem. Showers are quite small with no shelving to keep clothes dry. We camped at Cabela's RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hardin KOA, Hardin, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Far enough from the highway to be quiet, but close to the Little Bighorn Battlefield and the small town of Hardin for convenience. The park was not busy, so we had plenty of peace and quiet. Hosts were very accommodating, changing our reservations when our plans changed. We camped at Hardin KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you enjoy visiting historical sites, this is a great place to stay while taking in some background on the struggles between settlers and the native tribes. Lots of amenities at the site and good food, friendly people in nearby Hardin.

Missouri Headwaters State Park, Three Forks, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The scenery at this state park could not be prettier. Sites are well spaced and most have plenty of trees for shade. The campground was largely empty for our stay, but would be difficult to maneuver around and possibly noisy if all were full. Camp hosts and state staff were very friendly. Although there are no hookups of any kind, Verizon cell service was excellent. We camped at Missouri Headwaters State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are walking paths to the river and confluence, biking paths into town and to the interpretive exhibits and plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby Three Forks has a challenging 9-hole golf course and you can drive easily to the exhibits if walking and biking are not your preference.

Dick's RV Park, Great Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The park abuts the confluence of three highways, and is very noisy as a result. We had to keep our fans running on high all night to drown the sound of jake brakes and modified Diesel engines. The location is wonderful, aside from the noise. A lovely park and biking/walking path starts just outside the park entrance. The host was a bit grumpy and put us in a site just across from the office. Consequently we were doubly cramped - first because sites are very close together, second because everyone checking in parked right behind us. We stayed two nights, but one would have been sufficient had we not wanted to ride the bike trails up to the falls. Wi-fi signal was strong but was unreliable, resulting in repeated drops. Had to use my cell phone as a hot-spot to Skype. We camped at Dick's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Biking trails are everywhere and provide a great way to see the river and the falls. Bring lots of mosquito repellant!
