Gunter Hill COE, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

There are 2 loops at this park. The older, Antioch, loop has water & electric only with gravel pads and a dump station. The newer, Catoma, Loop has large concrete pads with full hookups and 50 amp service. This is a great value especially if you have the National Park Golden Age card. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

There is a lot of civil rights history to be seen in the area, in Montgomery and Selma. They have a great visitors center in downtown Montgomery which is a good place to plan and start your visit.

Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground, Clanton, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park is conveniently located right off I-75. The reservation and check in were easy. It was a self-check-in. There is some freeway noise. This parks website still shows that they have RV sales and service, but they no longer have either. This is our second time staying this park. It works well for us for a 1 or 2 night stop. We camped at Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hoover RV Park, Hoover, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is just a big parking lot for the Hoover Metro sports complex. It has full hookups with 50 amp. The sites are 45' long and 18' wide, just barely long enough to get our 34 ft fifth wheel in and park the truck sideways. The hookups are on raised concrete islands and are shared. The height of the sewer hookup just barely provided enough drop to be usable for our 5th wheel. Overall, it was a good place to stay. Hoover Metro is a huge sports complex with a large event center, baseball fields, soccer fields and a football stadium. There was a big gun show going on in the event center the weekend that we were there. The reservations are all done online. The website can be a little confusing, but you can pick a specific site. Just click on "Show Available Dates for a Specific Site" toggle. The symbol will turn yellow and allow you to click on a specific site on the map and view the availability calendar. We camped at Hoover RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

There were no 50-amp or pull-through sites available, only 30-amp back-in's. It worked OK for us. They caution you to not overload the 30-amp service, even giving out a sheet with estimated current draw for all your appliances. The power boxes do not have their own circuit breakers, so if you overload it you'll have to call the office to have it reset. This park is very conveniently located for visiting the Grand Ole Opry, only 2 miles away. And they have a shuttle that runs into Nashville on the hour and half-hour. $10 per person round trip. This park was the best value that we could find in the area. We'd probably stay here again. We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Volunteer Park Family Campground, Heiskell, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We didn't get a good impression of this park when we first drove in, but it turned out to be fine, once we got checked in and drove through the permanent resident area and got to our pull-through. The pull through's are plenty long and pretty well spaced. As far as I could tell, they are all concrete pads with gravel entry and exit drives. The exit drive on our site sloped down quite a bit and made it a little tricky to unhitch and hitch. Overall, a good experience. The staff and manager were friendly and helpful. We'd stay here again if in the area. We camped at Volunteer Park Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good park. Staff was friendly and helpful. They led us to our site. Our pull through site was long enough, although we had to park the truck sideways in front of the 5th wheel. Overall a good experience. One caution. When approaching the park on Rogers Gap Rd, the last 1/4 mile is very narrow and has very poor visibility for oncoming traffic. It's barely wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ottawa Metro Park, Lima, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is beautiful, clean, well-maintained park. It's water and electric only, but they have a conveniently-located dump station. We had a nice long paved pull-through. The sites were well-spaced. The thing we really liked about this park were the miles of paved bike trails. You could actually bike all the way to and through the town of Lima if you wanted. We'd definitely stay here again. We camped at Ottawa Metro Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park, Belleville, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We chose this park because we wanted to do some sightseeing in the Ann Arbor and Dearborn area. The park is about 20 miles from the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, which we visited over 2 days. We also visited Ann Arbor and the Gerald Ford Presidential Library. This was a good base for doing all that. The park is pretty basic, but it worked well for us. We had a nice long pull-through. The sites are alternate directions with shared utilities. They are a little close if all the sites are occupied, but not a problem. This park worked perfectly for us. It's fenced and felt very safe. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Wayne County Fairgrounds & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Loranger Pines RV Park, West Branch, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This was a perfect 2-night stop for us, fairly easy access from I-75. Actually the park is on Old SR 76 which parallels the freeway. you can exit at 212 if southbound, drive to the park and then, when leaving, continue south to rejoin the freeway at 202. The sites are all easy, wide back-in's off of the main driveway, grass and gravel. No mud, and very good drainage. The second night we were there it rained buckets, but in the morning there was hardly a puddle. There is a railroad track about 2-300 ft behind the sites, but only 1 or 2 trains per day, didn't bother us at all. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Loranger Pines RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeshore Park Campground, Saint Ignace, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a pleasant little RV park. We enjoyed being here. Most of the sites are open and sunny, although the back row is mostly shaded. The sites are well-spaced and roomy. There are lake views from the park and a partial view of the Mackinac Bridge from the park's little beach area across the road which is also a great place for sunset pictures. Management and owners are very friendly and helpful. We used this as a base for exploring St. Ignace and Mackinac Island. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lakeshore Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice paths down to the lake shore. There's a boardwalk and breakwater that you can walk out on. But, when we were there the waves were crashing over the breakwater, but it made for some spectacular wave watching.

Kewaunee RV & Campground, LLC, Kewaunee, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This was an OK park, we stayed for 2 nights and spent a day exploring Door County, it's an easy day trip. Staff led us to our site. The site was adequate for our 35ft 5th wheel and truck. We had to park the truck cross-ways in front of the RV, but that was no problem. The interior roads are gravel. Our site was dirt and sand with some gravel. It was level. Utilities worked well and were well placed, so no complaints. There were a fair number of permanent residents in the area where we were, but they were well-kept. We'd stay here again if in the area. Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park worked very well for us. Easy check -in, friendly staff. It's basically a big paved parking lot with hookups. Roomy sites. It's well lighted, you might want to keep your blackout shades closed at night. Security is good, we felt very safe here. Just make sure you pull into your site in the correct direction so the utilities are on the correct side. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Amana Colonies RV Park, Amana, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a big flat field with a grid of access roads. The sites are narrow gravel, but plenty long. All the sites are technically back-in's, but if an adjacent site is vacant, you can pull through. If back to back sites are occupied. you'll be looking out your back window right at the back of the next RV. This is a PA park, but I didn't realize that when I made the reservation, so the best rate I could get was the Good Sam discount. We camped at Amana Colonies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
