Bogue Chitto State park, Franklinton, Louisiana

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is Louisiana's newest state park and it's very nice except for the non-paved roads and sites. The road/site surfaces are covered in crushed limestone and are extremely dusty. Also areas of the park are very far from each other and one would probably have to drive to each. It would be tough to walk or bike very much because of the dust and the distance. Hopefully, the plans in the near future include paving at least the main roads. We camped at Bogue Chitto State park in a Motorhome.

Fairview Riverside State Park, Madisonville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Fairview Riverside is a very nice state park. We tried a new spot by the river but the water was high that weekend. Our site was on the east side of that area and flooded in late afternoon so we had very little outside "sitting" area. Picnic table slab was under water. That was the only downside for this stay, we go here on a regular basis and it's our favorite park so far. We camped at Fairview Riverside State Park in a Motorhome.
