Topsail Hill State Preserve, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

All the good reviews about this park are true. We were skeptical at first, but now we've seen it with our own eyes. We also like that it's far enough away from Destin that the peace and quiet is really appreciated.

The beach access might be troublesome to a few campers. We found it worth the effort to visit every day we stayed.

We will definitely be back. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Fifth Wheel.

Wildwood Golf & RV Resort, McGregor, Ontario

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We originally chose this park because of the proximity to Detroit and that was a big mistake. Crossing the border by bridge or tunnel was a major hassle. We will never even think about using this campground again and unfortunately it's not the campground's fault.

The facility was adequate and well kept, but if you don't play golf there's not much to do there. The sites were pull-thru and full hook-up, but they are all jammed in next to each other.

There is no park store on site in case you forgot something, but they do have ice and overpriced firewood.

The resort is filled with seasonal campers as well as park models, so I'm not sure the nightly rate reflects the lack of amenities. We camped at Wildwood Golf & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't bother with this resort if you plan to visit Detroit often. The border crossing took an hour and half on one trip. It's just not worth it.

Echo Bluff State Park, Eminence, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This state park and campground opened last month, so we knew not to expect any shade near the campsites.

Other than that, they did a first-rate job in the design and layout with extra-wide roadways. Plenty of full hookup sites. Clean restrooms and showers.

The park may be remotely located but there's plenty of activities. We camped at Echo Bluff State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Haven Retreat, Indianapolis, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Seemed fairly clean and well kept. The campground is located in an industrial area of Indianapolis and caters to transient workers more than the casual RV crowd. It's jam-packed but easy to get in and out of the campground. We camped at Lake Haven Retreat in a Travel Trailer.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Our overall opinion of Mill Creek Campground is poor at best. The advertising and marketing did not match reality. We were jammed into a spot on the second row off the lake. After coming back from a supply run to town, some neighbors had already started a cooking fire in our ring since there was no room on their site for a fire. We will not go back there nor recommend the campground to anyone that asks. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Sam A Baker State Park, Patterson, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

It's a great campground in a great state park. There are numerous hiking trails and a well-stocked store near the campground. The lodge is also an excellent place to eat. We camped at Sam A Baker State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Compton Ridge Campground , Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

They jammed our 30 foot trailer into a spot where I had to park my truck next to it under the awning. The campground is nothing like they advertise on their website. We will never go there again. We camped at Compton Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.
