Over all winner for adults. Park is user friendly and lovely. Enjoyed a site that backed up to edge of lake. Furnished with new grill, bistro table, and swing on concrete patio. Really appreciate the thought and hard work that goes into maintaining the park. Only slight annoyance is inability to connect to Internet with park WiFi (firewall rejects mobile devices such as IPads) so we were mostly unable to check email.

Overnighting here was easy and relaxing. Seems to be a destination type of park, especially for families. The variety of activities invites campers to stay for a while. Sites range from tight lake front views to wide open camping away from the water. Fire ant mounds suggest that bugs could be a problem in warmer weather; gnats gathered in our adult beverages as we enjoyed the sundown. This park is definitely on our "leisurely visit" list.

Have enjoyed this park during every one of our numerous visits. Glad to see renovations of sites and facilities in progress for campers' safety. There is enough foliage between sites to provide privacy when you want it. Planned activities such as free concerts encourage socialization. Rate seems steep at first but includes all the taxes.

Enjoyed the month here with the snowbirders. Had a scenic view of the bay and, of course, the winds sometimes coming off the bay . Socializing around the campfire is a popular activity in January. The owners welcome everyone warmly but respect campers' privacy.

Have overnited here twice and have been very satisfied with facilities. Love the mix of woods and openness. As other campers noted, the layout is a bit quirky since the campground is configured on a hillside, but that does not interfere with access at all. Again, follow the signs - not your GPS.

Over-nighted here and it was a nightmare. Hilly, washed out roads. Overhanging trees prevent safe exiting for large rigs. Detour exit routes not clearly marked. Much noisy construction and tree removal going on, so there is promise of better camping to come. Many permanent residents at top of campground; other sites are mostly "make do" right now. Will not return.

Stayed here three nights while we visited Holland, Zeeland and Lake Michigan. Our site was a double wide pull thru at the back of the park and we shared hook ups. Site was fairly level. Due to the season we had plenty of privacy. Lots of room to exercise our Jack Russells. The laundry room is small but machines were in good working order. $2 for large capacity washer. A large number of permanent residents, but sites were fairly neat. We would definitely return for a longer stay.

Only stayed overnite this visit. One of the best small parks for the money. Utilities work well and the park feels safe and comfortable. Lots of room to exercise our Jack Russells. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Easy access to restaurants and I-65.

Always enjoy coming back to Red Gate. This visit was for a week while we attended a wedding downtown. Very convenient to all the River Street fun and a relaxing get away from the crowds. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the semiprivate sites. We were tucked under a huge live oak tree that shaded us from the worst of the heat. We agree that these sites are definitely worth the little bit extra.

If you have not visited this RV park, you are missing a treat. Sites are spacious and well-maintained - easy in and out. Views - creek or mountain - are wonderful. The staff's attention to details is apparent everywhere. Sorry we could stay only two nights this visit. Love the area.

We camped here over a long weekend with about 15 club rigs. The staff was attentive and welcoming, treating all guests to a delicious spaghetti dinner on Saturday night. The sites either back up to the river overlook below the highway or to the excursion train tracks. The utilities worked fine, but the sites were too grassy for comfort. Phone service was spotty to nonexistent for some carriers.

Sugar Mill Creek RV Resort offers a relaxing and welcoming stay to individuals and clubs. What you see is what you get, and a campfire is enjoyable in the evening. Sites are neat and spacious. The store is nicely stocked and the weekend music is usually enjoyable. The playground equipment is adequate. Phone service is spotty to nonexistent for some carriers.
