Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA, Bernalillo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is the by far the nicest KOA I've stayed in - it renewed my faith in KOA's. The attendant was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. My site, P28 was very level. Most streets were paved. Trees made the park very attractive (though probably not enough to provide shade in mid-summer), and the distant views of the Sandia Mountains was memorable. Some sites have grass and some have artificial grass. Bathrooms were tiled throughout and fixtures were new. Recent remodeling was evident. Overall, this park seemed to be very well managed and cared for. WiFi service was very good. A microbrewery is within walking distance, but I didn't go there. Nearby Santa Anna Star casino offers a free shuttle. If you go there, consider eating at Sadie's for great New Mexican fare. We camped at Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is by far our favorite park out of the four that we've stayed at in Moab. Overall, this is an exceptionally well managed and maintained park. Advantages over the others we've stayed in: quiet location but convenient to center Moab, paved bike path adjacent to the park, outstanding dog run, very good wifi, paved access roads. Landscaping is xeric, which is totally appropriate for Moab's desert climate. However, the fenced dog run has nice, irrigated grass, it's lighted, and it has a bench. We stayed in the less expensive campground section, which represented good value. Although Moab is known for mountain biking, road biking is excellent here also. Other great activities are photography and hiking in the well known national parks and all around the outskirts of town. Rate reflects 10% AARP discount. This will now be our go-to park in Moab! We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.
