Hickory Shores Resort, Carlyle, Illinois

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Hickory Shores "Resort" -- definitely need to remove the last part of the campground name. This park is a far from being a "Resort" in any context of the word -- bluntly, this "place" is a dump!! We were in the parking lot (by choice) as there was a 50 AMP connection -- one of the few in the "place". The Host was extremely helpful and apologized for the condition of the "place" -- owner appears reluctant to invest in updating all the known issues/deficiencies. We last stayed here in the early '90s and it's not been updated/maintained for years. Mostly folks living here are on a yearly basis -- projects a neglected "trailer park" appearance. We camped at Hickory Shores Resort in a Motorhome.

Country Gardens RV Park, Odessa, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

I would avoid this campground unless you're in dire need of a place to stay overnight! This campground is a converted mobile home park that is long overdue for many improvements. We camped at Country Gardens RV Park in a Motorhome.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

"Potential", work in progress, best describe this RV park. With additional capital and major repairs to the park roads and site pads, this park would be at the top of the scale. Unfortunately, it appears that the owners were on the right track and the current economy has taken a toll. The office, bathrooms, laundry, showers are all first-class. The view is pastoral, rolling hills and beautiful views. I can see this park becoming a long-term nest for folks looking for a "home", versus the RV'er that stays a week or two at a time. In defense of the owners, cash-flow during these tough times is more important than ascetics. Great folks to deal with and if they are able to keep to their original site plan, this place will be in high-demand. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Motorhome.

Harrisburg East Campground, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Okay for a last resort while travelling. Park is cramped and has mostly permanent residents (approximately 48 sites). RV storage and storage buildings are located within the "campground." Least I forget, a shower will cost you 25-cents for 7-minutes. We camped at Harrisburg East Campground in a Motorhome.

Smoky Bear Campground, Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

All I can do is echo the comments of those who have visited/reviewed this gem in the Smokey Mountains. The owners meticulously manage and maintain this relatively small campground. You are welcomed with open arms and treated as 'family'. We will be annual visitors to the Smokey Bear Campground. We camped at Smoky Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA, Doswell, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company and has the potential of being an outstanding location, IF the parent company would invest in upgrading the facilities/RV sites. We camped at Richmond North / Kings Dominion KOA in a Motorhome.

Kosmo Village Campground, Glen Allen, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

It is no more than a parking lot with mostly homesteaders and no amenities -- okay for an overnight stay. I would be very careful leaving anything of value outside your RV if you leave the campground. We camped at Kosmo Village Campground in a Motorhome.
