The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This place is a find. We stayed here with friends just for one night. Could have stayed here for a while. This place is kept in tip top shape and truly a resort. Folks at the front desk were very friendly and seemed genuinely pleased that we chose this place. Paved roads that were easy to maneuver, concrete pads that were level. no picnic tables but that wasn't an issue. Worth every penny. We will stay here again. We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

High Plains Camping, Oakley, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

First of all there's been a name change-It's now 'High Plains RV Resort'. To call this a resort is a long stretch of the imagination. The lady behind the desk needs a severe attitude adjustment. The campground is run down and appears barely functional. We camped with friends. They were in an area with other campers,we were alone in the middle of the campground. There is no way that we will stay there again. We camped at High Plains Camping in a Motorhome.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

we arrived with two rigs. It was NOT a good day at the office. The man in the tie dye shirt apparently didn't know how to use a computer. Although we had confirmed reservations it took him almost 45 minutes to look for them.He still couldn't find them and those of several other folks as well.He put us into an area used for junk storage. Looking around we found that all the double spots had only one RV in them, parked right in the middle. No wonder they had problems. This place could use some serious management overhaul, after that it just might become ok for an overnight stay. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Clinton Library is across the river. If it's a warm day take the cart and don't walk across the bridge. It's further than you think. Best seafood is a dive called Flying Fish.

Bud's Place RV Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

It's a new park thus somewhat spartan yet restrooms, showers were extremely clean. It gets kinda noisy around 6am with a lot of construction traffic on the street. The ad in the Good Sam travel guide shows what the park would look like in a few years, but not now. It also promises 15 mins. to Carlsbad Caverns. Not even on a good day. The office is not always open thus making it difficult to ask about stuff. All in all would stay again in a year or two in hopes that the park has matured, We camped at Bud's Place RV Park in a Motorhome.

Trailer Village RV Park, Roswell, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

One night stay. It was OK for that. Did the UFO museum. Got checked in by a nice young man who was substituting for the owners and did a real fine job. I needed propane but the owners would never show up. Sign on door will be there, they weren't. Then sign says 'Open, come in' except door was locked and again no one to help. Went down the street to a huge propane dealer and filled up there. We camped at Trailer Village RV Park in a Motorhome.

OK RV Park, Holbrook, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is one huge gravel parking lot with various RVs scattered about. For us it was a jump off for the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. The lady at the front desk was real nice, even had home made muffins for us the next morning. For a one night stay it was ok. We camped at OK RV Park in a Motorhome.

Avoid the Meteor site. It's $18.-- per adult. Not worth it.

Canyon Gateway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one nite. Our travel friends made the reservation. This park is one step up from a Walmart parking lot.Way too much junk laying around. No trashcans and oh that red pumice type crunchy stuff. It may be leftover lava of some type. There's a 24 hour truck stop across the street, noisy as all get out. And how about those stale free donuts? Not again. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

KQ Ranch Camping Resort, Julian, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Kind of tough to get there, i.e. two lane roads that roller coaster up to the 4,000ft elevation, once you're there you get treated like family. Lots of trees, plenty of shady spots, decent sites. We had a problem with our truck's transmission and needed to leave the coach there while we got the truck repaired. Not a problem, no extra charges, very, very helpful. Remember you're in Julian. Unless you want apple pie served 50 thousand different ways you have to get towed to Ramona for any kind of service. All that not with standing, we had a good time and will probably return. We camped at KQ Ranch Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Vines RV Resort, Paso Robles, California

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

This CG was our 2nd choice. We normally stay at the other RV Resort which sets the Gold Standard in the Paso Robles area. When I check in I expect a friendly greeting and not get a barked "What's your name?". WiFi was sporadic at best, sometimes you needed a password , other times not, and then there were times the password didn't work. The park sits next to a very busy highway and there is no soundwall. It would help if the folks were to set up a natural soundwall about 10ft. high. Amenities are clustered at one end of the park. That makes for a long walk if you're at the other end.The picnic benches were set up for 8 people, were heavy and awkward to move. Loose 4 of those seats. $8.50 for a glass of wine? Really? The blue 'bots dots' were supposed to help with judging slide out distance. Nice to know this after you're parked. We camped at Vines RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wilderness Lakes Preserve - Thousand Trails, Menifee, California

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed as guests of friends who have a membership. The GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY ! The GOOD-electricity was steady and good, sites were fairly level. Sites are generously sized. The BAD- got to the park and was told to 'drive around until you find a spot you like, then come back and tell us the site number'. When you have a group camping you'd like to stay together. Many 'open' sites had signs saying 'This site leased to a member, do not camp here'. Apparently there are quite a few folks that live there on a permanent basis. They have their own golf carts that they zip around in. The UGLY- quite a number of places where it looks like a homeless encampment or worse.

We plan NOT to stay there again. We camped at Wilderness Lakes Preserve - Thousand Trails in a Fifth Wheel.

Laughlin / Avi Casino KOA, Laughlin, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

One of the least expensive KOAs I've come across. Due to the gambling aspect there were primarily adults and no children in the park. Perhaps a tad on the spartan side, but it beat a lot of the RV parks at the other casinos. Good security. Friendly check in. We'll stay there again. We camped at Laughlin / Avi Casino KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

The Good. Had nice shady sites, friendly staff, lots of stuff for kids to do. Both breakfast and dinner service on the patio. We had steak one night. Most excellent. Buffalo burgers the next, OK. Didn't do breakfast. The Bad. Wi-Fi service was almost non existent. Faded in and out. The Ugly. Why would you start lawn service at 8am on a Sunday morning, complete with all the noise making machinery?? We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Dry camping at its best. You're in a lava field. Lots of black gritty things.Could have used the gen set but didn't. Neither did anyone else. Just didn't want to disturb the serenity of this place. Great staff, and interesting programs. This place rocks. We camped at Craters of the Moon National Monument/Lava Flow Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Zion West RV Park, Leeds, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a somewhat modest RV park. What it lacks in amenities, such as a pool, etc., it more than makes up with a friendly staff, a super quiet location, and cleanliness. Whether you stay a nite or a week, you can't go wrong. We camped at Zion West RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
