Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park located outside Savannah. We had a beautiful large site amid live oaks. Close enough to visit the sights of Savannah but far away enough to be quiet and peaceful. Great park! We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Biltmore RV Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Owners of this park are very unhelpful and tried to charge full rate instead of the Passport America rate. We arrived on a Sunday so the office was closed. We knew this ahead of time and we expected to pick a site and register on Monday. The husband of the owner came along and said he would show us where we could park. He took us to a site in a grass field right along the Hwy even though there were several unused sites further back in the park away from the noise of the busy Hwy. I mentioned we would stay 3 or 4 nights and that we are Passport America members. He immediately stopped and said "It's a good thing you mentioned that, we aren't associated with them so you'll have to pay the full rate." I said the PA website shows them as still active and he argued that they weren't a PA park. He finally gave in and admitted they were a PA park but said "We don't honor their rate on Sundays, that's right on the PA website, and today is Sunday so it's full rate".. I said that's OK for tonight but I want to stay another 2 or 3 nights and they should be at the discounted rate. He said "Nope, it's all at the full rate if you arrive on Sunday" I said "Thanks, we'll find another place to stay." I would never stay at this park anyways after looking at it. It is located right beside a very busy noisy hwy, looks like cleanup and maintenance are seldom if ever done, and offers no amenities. We camped at Biltmore RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
