Santa Fe Trail RV Park, Springer, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Park is older, all pull thru, had some problem getting level in the MH but switched sites and was fine. Clear view of SW for satellite. Very friendly, cash only. Even though I25 is visible, quiet. Easy to find. We camped at Santa Fe Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

AOK Camper Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

About 3/4 of the residents are permanents but each night there seemed to be 5-7 open sites for the transients. All pull-thru. A bit run down but fine for a few nights. Low water pressure but good electricity. Outside the city by a few miles. We would stay here again. We camped at AOK Camper Park in a Motorhome.

Canadian COE, Canton, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in Canadian, there is an additional COE campground further down the lake. We were in Loop A, in the middle of a prairie dog town. So neat. Had to watch where you walked due to the holes but they are so cute. This is a new campground, a tornado wiped out the previous and the COE rebuilt. Large pull thru sites, covered patio, and table, level, on a hill overlooking the lake. If you want trees you will need to go to Loop B. We camped at Canadian COE in a Motorhome.

Potato Hills Central COE, Clayton, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

Checked in and was told to go find a site an come back, told us which sites were reserved. We found a site and set up then drove back and paid. We prefer this method when we have never been to a park before. Site was right on the water, great sunsets, trees but some sun. Make sure you have everything you need, quite a distance to any town. No cell service, either ATT or Verizon but for some unknown reason our Mobley(mifi ATT) worked. We camped at Potato Hills Central COE in a Motorhome.

Malden Lake Campground COE, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Campground host not very good. Asked for a pull thru site and he said no problem. When we got to the site it was a pull through but not for a 36' MH+toad. We called and asked if we could use another site across the road, he said OK. After we set up and got settled had a knock on the door. The site had been reserved and the person wanted his site. Mistake on the CG Host part. The guy wouldn't take any other site so we had to pack up and move. Then the Host came and asked for another $1. We were now on a premium site, what made it premium we don't know. Paid the $1. This CG Host was the worst we have ever encountered, totally incapable of the job. CG was very quiet but not near the water which disappointed us. Many trees, no sat service due to trees, OTA good. We camped at Malden Lake Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Farr Park Campground & Horse Activity Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A bit challenging to find and we missed the turn. The address, which we put in the GPS and where the park is are different. Once we found the park it was not clear as to where the office was. A rainstorm was coming so we pulled into a site and set up, all the electric boxes are locked, we found one that wasn't and had everything set up before the storm hit. I am not sure what one does for electricity if you come in after hours. Called the number and found out where the office was. Only accepted cash and no discounts. CG selection around Baton Rouge is not great and this one was very nice. Thought the price was high. We camped at Farr Park Campground & Horse Activity Center in a Motorhome.

Rainbow Plantation - Escapees Rainbow Park , Summerdale, Alabama

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Park is very quiet and empty at this time of year. Large sites, friendly neighbors. All grass sites. The only I see is that the laundry facilities need some maintenance. Of 4 washers, 1 was broken. Of 5 dryers, 2 were broken. My understanding is that they have been broken for several weeks if not longer. Also, lawn maintenance was done on Sunday. No reason that we can see, weather has been good. Most its under the trees. We camped at Rainbow Plantation - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Pine Acres Campground, Aiken, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a worker's park with some noise from the road. We called for a reservation and were told our site. When we arrived we pulled into our site, set-up and then went to the office. Great for an overnight stop mainly because of price. We didn't realize it at the time but the PA site said $15 and we were charged $20. We assume the PA site needs to be updated. We camped at Pine Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Glen Maury Park, Buena Vista, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We called a few days ago and found out they do not take reservations but had plenty of space. We were a little concerned but had Plan B. Parking was in a field with 4 rigs per electric post. No problem, there were 3 other rigs besides ourselves. Check in was great, fast, efficient. We were told just to go to the field and find a place. The filed probably could handle 100+ rig plus there are sites along the edges with woods behind them. We were here only for overnight so we parked for an easy exit. Easy to get to of I81, good directions, streets and turns no problem. We will tell our friends about this little gem...................... We camped at Glen Maury Park in a Motorhome.

Malden Lake Campground COE, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We came in early and the gate keeper wasn't sure if our site was free or not. We told him to just put us on a different site but he insisted on running down to the site to see if the person was still there. The current resident was just pulling out so the gatekeeper came back and told us to go ahead. Seemed like a long check-in process even taking into account the run to the campsite and back. Have weak internet(ATT) not sure about phone...................no bars but that doesn't mean anything. We camped at Malden Lake Campground COE in a Motorhome.

The Hideaway RV Park, Gatesville, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park with mostly permanents. We selected it since no reviews had been done. It is gated and you need the code to get in. Keypad is down low, not conducive to a MH. Had to get out and put in code. We knew we were in site 16, a pull thru. Pull thru's are on the left with a big lot behind them. All were facing forward so I pulled into the big lot. Could not find #16. A neighbor was out and he showed us where the nightly campers parked. Site 16, poorly marked, was between 21 and 22!!!! We parked and had to share the electric box with our neighbor, luckily he was a 30a and we needed 50a. We camped at The Hideaway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Monahans Sandhills State Park, Monahans, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Great park for an overnight, 50 amp, many pull thrus. Quiet, some sites not level enough for a MH but OK for a trailer or 5th. Windy the entire time we were there, sand blowing all the time. Sand is very soft so hard to walk on sand dunes. We camped at Monahans Sandhills State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Eat at Pappy's, brisket was very good so was the spicy sausage. There is a train graveyard in town. Not open to the public but enough is visible to make the graveyard interesting.

Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Park is unique as it is limited to how many people may enter each day. You also have mandatory movie to see about the park. To get to the campground you must get out and open a gate. Sits were extremely nice, elec and water at each site. Great views. Park is out a bit from El Paso but you could drive in if needed. Park has many restricted trails that can only be visited with a docent or ranger. Several trails are open to the public. We camped at Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site in a Motorhome.

Gilbert Ray Campground / Tucson Mountain Park, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

As it was the end of the season one loop was closed, in the 2 remaining loops maybe there were 10 campers, went up to 20 for the weekend. Quiet, twice a day the camp host came by, beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. No water at the site, down the road a bit. You are limited to a 1 week stay. Suggest finding a site and then go back and check in and pay. We camped at Gilbert Ray Campground / Tucson Mountain Park in a Motorhome.
