River Shade RV Park, Seguin, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2008 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Other reviewer said it all pretty well. Nice size pull-thru sites and river is beautiful. I did not find the office staff very friendly, though. Also the clubhouse is permanently locked so it cannot be used! Interior roads are stone of various sizes and not well maintained. A lot of permanent residents in old TT's. Quite a few kids and dogs, but it was quiet at night. Would stay here again, but not for more than a week. We camped at River Shade RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Coastal Oaks RV Resort, Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2008 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We have been staying in this park all winter. In fact, I wrote the first review. I am rating it much lower now than I initially did. Here are some of the reasons for my lowered rating. First, we were promised last November that the clubhouse would be completed no later than than the January of '08. It is still not completed. The laundry facilities and restrooms have not even started construction. They have put in the second set of 25 RV sites, and many of them are very close together, unlike the first phase. The road for the 2nd phase has not been paved and dust has become a problem. This is the owners first park and they have yet to have any rules or regulations about anything. Also the owner and the manager do not seem to communicate well. Last, the 1st and 2nd phases each have their own septic systems and neither seem to be working well. They seem to be leaking and emitting a lot of odors. Maybe they can get this fixed. We will not stay here again. We camped at Coastal Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Coastal Oaks RV Resort, Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2007 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Coastal Oaks RV Resort is Rockport's newest RV park. In fact, as of December 1, 2007, only the first 25 sites are ready to go. But what great sites they are! Complete cement pads and patio. The next 25 sites (now under construction)are to be ready to go before Jan. 1, 2008. Also, every site has trees on it, and great amount of space between the sites. There is a man made lake. Clubhouse is now almost completed overlooking the lake. Pool and laundry are to be completed after the 1st of the year. On site owners and manager are very nice and helpful. Though still under construction, this is Rockport's best RV Park! 50 amp service. Cable TV and WiFi were free! We camped at Coastal Oaks RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Des Moines West KOA, Adel, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were small and tight, but the park was clean. New crushed stone on the sites made it hard to get 5th level. Not a bad overnight stop except I was charged $38. Wifi was extremely weak and only worked if you took your laptop up to the office. I now remember why I never stay in KOA's. Probably would not stay again, mostly because of the price. We camped at Des Moines West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Hickory Hollow Campground (closed), Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

A real nice, clean park. Wifi works good and we had a long, shaded pull-thru site. Big rig friendly, trees and such are nicely trimmed. There are new condos being built all around the east side of the park, and have large dirt wall pushed up next to the park. It blocks construction noise, but also blocks some of the sites TV reception. A few too many kids running around for my taste, but it is summer! We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground (closed) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very clean park, the best in Kanab. Extremely clean. Read other good reviews, the are all correct. Our site was a very long, nice pull-through. Lots of room! Fastest WiFi we have seen all year. Nice pool! We camped at Kanab RV Corral in a Fifth Wheel.

Cherokee Springs Golf and RV Resort, Hatch, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a hard RV park to rate. It has no pool, WiFi, or shade. But the scenery is beautiful, there is absolutely no noise, and it is almost smack in between Bryce and Zion. We enjoyed our stay there, but it is really remote. There is an on site golf course which we did not use. Looking to get away from it all or to visit Bryce and Zion and this is the place. Only $15 a night. We camped at Cherokee Springs Golf and RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderland RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

On checking in, the park look great, well maintained and the views are great. Closest park to Capitol Reef NP. After staying here a couple days, there were a few things that could have been better. The roads and sites are gravel and vehicles are allowed to drive too fast within the park, kicking up a lot of dust. Beside us were a couple of trailers with permanent locals living in them. They were a little too noisy, drove too fast, and had older diesel trucks that were extremely smelly. Also there were a few dogs allowed to roam freely. And the WiFi barely works, maybe because we were in the farthest pull-through site. Not a bad park, but could have been better. We camped at Wonderland RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Great place to stop and see Moab! Beautiful view of terrain and mountains. Mostly pull through spaces with pretty good room although not real long. We did get our 40 foot 5er and dually long bed truck in. Friendly on-site owners. Horses nearby, so occasional horse smells, but not bad. No pool, but nice quiet park far away from highway noise. We'll be back! We camped at OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables in a Fifth Wheel.

Sleeping Ute RV Park (formerly Ute Mountain Casino RV Park), Towaoc, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Was told rate was $16 a night with Good Sam when I reserved a site, but when we pulled in, they tried to get $23 a night. They blamed their marketing people (???). Campground is nice and quiet, even though it is located next to a casino. Good WiFi, cable TV included premium channels. Trees to the front of each pull-through are getting to be in need of a trim, be careful or you may get scratched. Also be careful of the utilities (electric) hookup. It is very close to back side of your space and it is easy to hit it with a slide-out. Some sites are rather unlevel (front to back), but no one seemed to be having problems with it. Good place to stop and see Mesa Verde NP and Hovenweep. I looked at the other parks, this is the best place to stay in the area. We camped at Sleeping Ute RV Park (formerly Ute Mountain Casino RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Ruins Road RV Park & Campground, Aztec, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Owner was very nice, but park is about 3/4 full of permanent residents, some in older units. Sites are dirt and stone with no picnic table. This park is OK for a few nights stay, but would not highly recommend it. We camped at Ruins Road RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Rosa Lake State Park, Santa Rosa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful views! Pick your site carefully, many do not have water spigots. Electric service was only running about 105 volts. There is a place in the campground to fill your tank. Trees and grounds were kind of overgrown, but not real bad. Really nice hiking trails. About 12 miles into town. Great boat ramps. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Road Runner RV Park (formerly Parkview Mobile Home & RV Park), Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Park is an OK overnight stay, especially at the $11 Passport America rate. Facilities are old and very basic--The power was wired incorrectly at the 1st site we were in. They did fix it. Just a dirt parking lot, but does have full services. Probably would be a muddy mess if it rained. We camped at Road Runner RV Park (formerly Parkview Mobile Home & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Wilderness Oaks RV Park (formerly Rockport 35 RV Park Resort), Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2007 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Old fashioned park that is badly in need of an update. Small sites! Lots of overhanging tree branches. If you have a trailer or MH over 30 feet, you better go elsewhere. All dead end roads and no place to turn around. Heavy airport and road noise. Helicopters taking off and landing constantly. Pull-thru sites very narrow and by the main highway, next to the dumpsters. There are a number of really nice RV parks in Rockport--This is not one of them. Avoid it. We camped at Wilderness Oaks RV Park (formerly Rockport 35 RV Park Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.
