Canton I-20 RV Park, Wills Point, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little park. Sites well-cared for and easy to access. Some long-term residents but many sites for short term use. Very open with little shade although trees are growing. Quite a bit of highway noise as it is on a road that parallels the interstate. We actually had a killdeer nesting on our site near the sewer connection. The gentleman (?owner) who checked us in took us to our site and made sure we were in a location that would not threaten her. Only stayed one night but, if we are ever in the area again, would stay longer. Would definitely return. We camped at Canton I-20 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nakatosh RV Park, Natchitoches, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

There is very little choice of campgrounds in the area. We were traveling through the area and needed a place for the night. Getting into the campground was somewhat difficult due to the access road. The park was behind a truck stop and it was noisy all night from the diesel engines. We later learned that access could be made through the truck stop and that is how we left the park. The park itself was filled with mostly long term residents. The restrooms were clean and accessible with a pass code. (That we obtained by returning to the office, only to learn that it was posted on a white board outside the office door.) Not much security. It was easy to navigate around the park but the sites were not well-marked. The power pedestal was questionable as the door was not well-secured. Water pressure changed as more campers arrived and hooked up. Would not return. We camped at Nakatosh RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rivers Edge R.V. Campground, Holt, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a love it or hate it park. Apparently, a lot of people love it as there were limited available sites. The restroom was barely adequate and poorly stocked while we were here. I looked at the shower and would not use it. A coat of paint would work wonders as would a general cleaning. That said, the campground was an interesting mix of woods and river bank. Laundry facilities were available but not totally adequate for a park this size. There was a mix of long term campers, weekend campers and campers in for only a night or two while en route to another destination (as we were). It is an older rustic campground that could be nice if it were cleaned up and some attention paid to details. We had to access our water connection from under the laundry room! Thought we'd never find it! We would not return. We camped at Rivers Edge R.V. Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

The campground had just reopened after flooding so much of it was inaccessible. The pull-through sites at the entrance to the campground had all hookups on the right side of the site. Most RV hookups are either at the rear or on the left side. Very inconvenient. That said, the campground was very nice. One could walk from their campsite to the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed our stay. We would return and would also try Riverside-Fairview State Park in Madisonville, LA. We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a lot to do in the area both in and outside the park. As noted, the park borders on Lake Pontchartrain. There are many nature trails and bike trails within the park and wildlife is frequently seen. There is even a fishing lake near the pavilion. The nearby town has many restaurants and it is also close to New Orleans. If you get bored here, you have no one to blame but yourself!

Lake City Campground & Resort, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stop and there had been a lot of rain. Much of the park had large puddles. Appears to have a lot of long-term residents. Around the time we arrived, someone had backed over a water connection and shut off the water to half the park but it was quickly remedied. The park was difficult to find even using GPS. Would return for an overnight. We camped at Lake City Campground & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tampa South RV Resort, Ruskin, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for several days and visited friends and attractions in the area. There is a lot to do in the area and in the park. It is an extended stay park and they also have cottages for winter rentals. The site surface is crushed shells. Recycling is mandatory. Many of the residents are permanent. It is an adults only park, although children are allowed to visit residents. We found it a very comfortable place to stay and would return. We camped at Tampa South RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Have stayed here before. Level pull-throughs, plenty of room for slides. Park staff guides you to your site. Staff very pleasant. During the spring and summer, there is a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a pool and water features as well as the lake. Would definitely return. Tarry Ho Campground, Twin Mountain, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay at TarryHo very much. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is an older campground with new owner and management. They seem to be working very hard to bring it back to its former glory. The only reason I did not rate it higher is the fact that there are no laundry facilities either at the park or in the local community. We would stay here again. We camped at Tarry Ho Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to Franconia Notch State Park. Plenty of shopping in Littleton (about 15 miles) and Conway (about 30 miles). Near White Mountain National Forest. The Conway Scenic Railroad in Conway and the Cog Railroad at Mount Washington are relatively nearby. Great area for bicyclists to test their skills.

Dogwood Acres Campground, Newville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent campground. Full facilities, well-maintained. Many sites are seasonal, but there are a number of overnight sites as well. Owners friendly and actually escort you to your site! We arrived using directions from our GPS and were taken in the long way that was very windy and narrow. Next time, we'll follow the directions the owner gave us to get out! We would camp there again!! We camped at Dogwood Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Moonlight Lake RV Resort, New Bern, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Apparently there have been many changes since the last review posting. We were greeted at the entrance and, within the first 24 hours of our stay, the staff was calling us by our first names. It is a new park and there is still a lot of work being done to improve the park. "Resort" doesn't quite fit, but it is a work in progress. The Passport America rate helps and we would definitely return if only to see what more has been done since this visit. We camped at Moonlight Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
