Pioneer RV Park, Whitehorse, Yukon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed up on the 'hill' to get a bit of privacy. The laundromat is not available so one needs to go into town (4-mi) to do that. Wifi is spotty if out of office range and is sloooow. They do discount gas if you purchase from them. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The roads are navigable but the signage for one-way could be more visible as we made a wrong turn and ended up going in the wrong direction simply because we did not "see" the arrow.

Denali State Park, Byers Lake Campground, Trapper Creek, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is amazing. It has lots of campsites. Some designated for rigs 30' and longer only (unless no other space is available.) We loved staying here. It was quiet and beautiful. Our ONLY complaint: the road has major potholes! Needs to be re-graded, especially the outer circle (D Loop) which is heavily traveled. Otherwise this was just a wonderful campground. There are kayaks/canoes for rent by an outfitter from Talkeetna. Firewood for sale. Charming lake walk that is roughly 5 miles and no elevation increase. We camped at Denali State Park, Byers Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park), Valdez, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

They have exactly 1 washer/1 dryer for the entire park. The same building holds 4 stalls that are toilet/showers for both Men & Women. (A toilet & shower are one room. Total 4 rooms.) We camped at Valdez KOA (formerly Bear Creek Cabins & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Valdez has provided a off-highway paved pathway that runs for several miles, including this campground which is 4+ miles outside of town. So one can run/walk/bike into town safely. Free wi-fi was so slow we didn't use it and at times could not connect to it. With a bit of work this could be a 'very good' campground.

Stoney Creek RV Park, Seward, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The restrooms were clean. HOWEVER, there was a good 1/2" of fuzzy black mold on the floor long the shower stall, which I could see standing a foot away. One shower floor was in desperate need of repair. Also the men's showers (according to my spouse) lacked HOOKS to hang his belongings in one of the stalls, and the floor is dirty from people walking on it from outside. Otherwise the campground was fine. We camped at Stoney Creek RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wagon Master RV Park, Sanger, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Park was nice, large sites, open area between sites, alpacas a plus. The bathrooms were clean, but some privacy issues, one shower occupies the same space as the toilet. Great laundry facility. We camped at Wagon Master RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pat Mayse Lake / Pat Mayse West Campground, Powderly, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2013 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Half price with your Golden Access/National park pass. Quiet, beautiful, spacious sites. Some have low branches so be careful pulling in. Lots of water views, wildlife (armadillos, herons, ducks, squirrels, etc). We are so happy to be here, a few other campers but it is very open. We camped at Pat Mayse Lake / Pat Mayse West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent. We really enjoyed staying here. Super quiet, dark skies made easy night star viewing opportunities, large sites, interesting local small towns to visit. Had a great week here. We camped at Copper Breaks State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Triple J RV Park, Russell, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The park itself was fine. The restroom/shower was next to the laundromat (public). Owners had several cats and while I did not see litter boxes, the overwhelming smell of urine left me wishing I had used our shower. Otherwise the spaces were large, the area was quiet, and it was clean. We camped at Triple J RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a Family park. Lots of children, bikes, etc. Sites are very close together. Bathroom was a large open area which needs updating. No private area to dress/undress so keep your things within reach. We camped at Crystal Hot Springs in a Fifth Wheel.

Winter rate in October, so it was really great, only about 6 sites in use. Very pretty, clean, quiet HOWEVER - part of the park closes at the end of October. No amenities near by, 25 miles for gas. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

PA rate. Park has narrow back in sites, however they do have pull through sites outside the main park. It's ok, for one night. We camped at Sierra Trails RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sycamore Grove Campground, Red Bluff, California

Date of Stay: March, 2013 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Showers are locked (due largely to the public access to the river close by), and you have to pay for using them. The park was mostly non-electric, lots of space in between sites, lots of walking paths and because it's a run by the US Forest Service, the National Park Pass is accepted. So we only paid $8/night. Park host was friendly and available. Nearby Red Bluff provided great antenna TV signals. We camped at Sycamore Grove Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
