Rolle's Lynda Vista RV Park (55+ park), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This park came as a pleasant surprise and only $15 PA even during peak season where other parks would not offer any discounts, charging much more. We felt safe here even though it's located in an older section of Yuma. The hostess was pleasant and very helpful. Our back-in space had ample side room and a concrete patio, with a few orange trees to boot. Wi-fi was fast and AT&T cell worked well. The park is older, but certainly acceptable and our choice when staying in Yuma. We camped at Rolle's Lynda Vista RV Park (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Desert Willow RV Park, Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

For a quick overnight stay in the middle of nowhere this place is hard to beat at $14 PA. Nice wide, flat and long pull throughs, fast wi-fi, good AT&T cell service, decent cable and quiet. Friendly staff, would for sure stay here again. We camped at Desert Willow RV Park in a Motorhome.

River Ranch RV Resort, New Braunfels, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This would be an ideal park for a long stay, clean, concrete pads and ample room for a towed vehicle, right on the gorgeous Guadeloupe river, EXCEPT for the freeway noise which is really bad. We stayed here 2 days and fished right along side our motorhome, big catfish and bass are plentiful. Really loved the surroundings and wanted to stay longer but the highway noise was just too much for us. RV space prices vary greatly depending on size, but they do take PA. The park was full so reserve in advance, just expect the traffic noise. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great fishing on the beautiful and pristine Guadeloupe river. One day TX fishing license available on line for $21, for me it was well worth it! San Antonio, the Alamo and River walk are a 35 mile drive on the busy Freeway, using the tow vehicle of course, and plenty of Advil.

Overall Rating:

Nothing fancy, just a clean place to stay with mostly pull throughs, $20 PA. Clean laundry and toilets, albeit older. Wi-Fi was strong and good AT&T cell service. Highway noise was not an issue. We camped at Happy Oaks RV Park in a Motorhome.

Poche's RV Park, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fun place to stay, right on the water. Several man made small lakes with back-ins surrounding the banks, but they do have a few pull throughs. Ample room, but the tow vehicle will most likely need to be unhooked. Fishing is included with no license required. Clean grounds with trees, swimming pool, concrete pads and hookups placed correctly. Wi-fi was so-so, but good AT&T cell service. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Others have mentioned rough roads, but they have done work on them and we had no issues at all. Really loved this place. We camped at Poche's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The owners also have a neat Cajun market with a really good restaurant a mile or so away. By all means check it out if you like the real thing, home made sausage, alligator, and a great assortment of quality Cajun specialties to either take home or eat there. Casual, authentic, and reasonably priced.

Three Oaks and a Pine, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a clean, gated, safe place for your RV, but nothing fancy. The park is just a large graveled lot with perimeter back-ins, BUT it is close to New Orleans, afterall you come here for the City and not to hang out at the RV park. Train noise was barely heard and not a problem for us. Staff was really nice and the facilities clean and well kept. For the practical purpose it serves this is a good deal, for sure we'd stay here again, and they take PA. We camped at Three Oaks and a Pine in a Motorhome.

DiamondJacks Casino and Resort, Bossier City, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Clean well kept park off by itself away from the hotel. Trees and grass around all sites. Only fault was the cable did not work, but we got 35+ channels off the air. Nice concrete pads and picnic tables. Others have complained about the train "noise" but to us it was neat, besides it is not excessive or very loud. Laundry and restrooms were spotless, very friendly staff. We camped at DiamondJacks Casino and Resort in a Motorhome.

Miss Ellie's RV Park, Waskom, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small park on the outskirts of Shreveport, which is what we wanted. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a pull through long enough for our 24' Class C and a Jeep Wranger, any longer would require disconnecting. Hookups were newer and placed where they needed to be, wi-fi was strong and we got good off the air TV, didn't even look if there was cable. Hwy noise for us was there, but we were parked on the outer edge, I don't think the inside spaces would hear as much. Train whistle occasionally, but love to hear those so that was a plus for us. Quite a few full timers but all the rigs were well kept and appeared to be newer. For $24 Good Sam we were happy. Would stay here again for sure. We camped at Miss Ellie's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Weatherford / Fort Worth West KOA, Weatherford, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

On the outskirts of Dallas/Ft Worth which is what we wanted. If you're not used to the Freeway system in Texas be forewarned, it takes a little getting used to as frontage roads can easily be mistaken for on ramps. That is not any fault of the RV Park, juts be advised if you are like us from a different state. The park itself was run down with lots of full timers, but we did get a pull through. We arrived in a driving rain just as they were closing, the owner was nice enough to help us get set up (in the mud!) Wi-Fi was so poor it was not usable. Overall OK for a one night stay outside of a big city. Be careful of dangerous low branches, they're everywhere! We camped at Weatherford / Fort Worth West KOA in a Motorhome.

White's City RV Park, Whites City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The BIG plus is the closeness to Carlsbad Caverns, just up the road from the RV park. Easy back ins with hookups placed where they belong. WiFi was good, staff very helpful and friendly. Good assortment of shops including a post office on site. The showers and restroom were not so clean, we didn't use them. For where it is located we were pleased, no other RV parks are this close to the Caverns. We camped at White's City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sunflower Resort (55+ park), Surprise, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is an upscale resort with almost every amenity you could want. Tennis courts were lighted and first class. Workout room, 2 pools, outside bar with live music every afternoon and night. There is little lacking, first class all the way, plus they take PA! We were treated like they wanted us there, friendly staff couldn't do enough for us. For some reason the cable TV system had issues however being that close to Phoenix we got about 40 channels from our antenna. Overall top notch all the way, definitely stay again. We camped at Sunflower Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Sunrise RV Park, Kingman, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This a very nice smaller full service park in Kingman, a short distance from the route 66 museum. The grounds were very clean, even the gravel was raked. Bathrooms and showers were spotless. Only complaint is the freeway noise, but not enough to be a deal breaker. I love this place and would definitely stay here again. They honor the PA discount which makes it a steal. Tecopa Hot Springs Campground and Pools, Tecopa Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

The PA price is very reasonable. One must factor in the extremely remote location however when rating the facility. Basic, clean, friendly staff, and a very nice hot springs at the end of Death Valley, but nothing fancy. The park is run by the county, albeit limited resources as counties go. The hot springs pools are unique as there is one separate pool for gals and one for men, both clothing optional. My wife and I opted for the privacy of the one personal pool they have which is rented by the hour and not included in the nightly fee. Neither of us could see soaking separately. The private pool is available first come serve and was squeaky clean but primitive cement block, but had total privacy. They drain and clean it after each use which we appreciated. Really a nice soaking small pool of 104 degree mineral water. As others have said there is NO fresh water in the town, we filled our tank before coming and were fine. The restrooms only have hot mineral water in all the faucets which was a little weird. Overall we were very pleased (for what it is) and would stay there again. We camped at Tecopa Hot Springs Campground and Pools in a Motorhome.

Volcano Country Camping and RV, Mineral, California

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Close to Lassen NP and easy to find on Route 36. Sites were mostly back in and somewhat flat, we had no problem moving around in our 24' class C. A big plus was that the hookups were positioned where they needed to be and the sewer was low enough to drain properly. That said, the sites were somewhat shabby with stacks of old cut tree limbs here and there and a general lack of upkeep. The restrooms looked OK, just not sparkle clean. For $25 with full hookups it is a good deal, in the trees and quiet, just don't expect too much. We camped at Volcano Country Camping and RV in a Motorhome.

Tree of Heaven Campground USFS, Happy Camp, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

Tree of Heaven is a Federal campground located about 11 miles north west of Yreka CA. There are 2 ways of getting there, the most simple is to take the Hwy 96 exit off of I-5 just north of Yreka. There is a much more scenic route if you exit at Yreka and follow the secondary road, CA 263. This is our preferred route as it has several of the beautiful old old arch bridges and also eliminates the rather long grade found on I-5.

We have stayed at this campground several times over the years and find it a pleasant and peaceful place, right on the Klamath river among lots of old shade trees (be very careful for headroom when driving through the campground, some branches are low) This is a typical National Forest campground having a host, a dumpster, pit toilets, and drinking water. No electricity and no dump station. Fishing is right there, as is a small boat ramp and hiking trails. Not especially big rig friendly, we have a 24' Class C with a tow vehicle, but did see some larger 5th wheel rigs.

The access road to the campground is steep, but paved and we had no problems, just be advised that the entrance is on a curve off of hwy 96. There is a turn lane, but extra care is needed just the same. The beauty of this campground is well worth the little extra effort getting there. We camped at Tree of Heaven Campground USFS in a Motorhome.
