Not far from the famous resort of Greenbriar and nestled in verdant forest is this gem of a park. Quiet and peaceful are but a few of the qualities. We were able to travel to other nearby destinations as 64 is just a few miles away. Convenient to White Sulphur Springs, the New River Gorge and Beckley, this a great place to hunker down for a few days or longer.

We stayed in the Extended Stay from March till the end of December 2010. The park itself is well kept and gets full on weekends and holidays. Amenities are great for a family with much to do for all ages. Our main concern was leaving. The electric bill which is in addition to the $750/month, was $200 for 1065 KWH for December. The owner said it had to be from the electric space heater. This seems odd as in the sweltering summer months we had to AC on constantly and our bill was never more than $85. When questioned about the rate of $0.19 per KWH, he said he could charge whatever he wanted. I called the Public Service Commission and was told he has to charge market rate which is much less. We have sent a letter to the State asking for a ruling. In the mean time, feel free to stay here, but watch your electric meter and take weekly readings. Our $100 deposit was conveniently erased by the last electric bill.

Excellent place to stay with nature's bounty at your finger tips. The lake is great for kayaking and canoeing and fishing. The trail along the river is an added bonus.
