Lake is larger than it appears on Website. Horseback riding and Golf is right across the street at Double JJ resort which is in Rothbury. A store is right down the road and the town of Montague is very close for shopping or canoeing. The lake has a lot of lakefront sites, but many of them don't have a lot of shade so you have to think about how the shade moves with the suns movements to get a shady spot. Also has more shady private sites off the lake and a large group area with several nice sites with electric grouped together. Clean fire rings, clean everything. Very clean porta-potties everywhere. Very clean campground. Only two shower stalls but clean and adequate as this new campground is not very busy yet. Really nice roped off sandbar swimming area in the middle of lake is connected to a peninsula so you have a nice safe place for swimming with little ones. Also a floating swim dock with a ramp that you can jump off into the deep side, a fishing dock, and two floating volley ball courts. Nice sandy bottom lake with small beach areas in front of most all of the lake front sites. A road goes around the campground in a circle which is great for bike rides. Also has a bike trail towards the front of the campground and another trail towards the back. Only ice, wood, and inner tubes for rent available on site. There is a store is right down the street. Close to Michigan's Adventure. Lots of wildlife and catch and release no license fishing. Only small no gas motor boats allowed. The only thing we did not like was a bit of highway noise at night after all the birds and crickets calm down. Beautiful night sky. No frills, but it has that back woods nature feel with lots of blueberry plants everywhere and lots of privacy because there are a Lot of sites. Saw a crane living right in front of our camper on the water. We camped at Lucky Lake Campground in a Tent Trailer.

We were amazed at the huge waterfront sites. There were quite a few waterfront sites, and off the water sites were nice too. There are lots of trees and a picture postcard view that is unbelievable. It looks like a lake, but it is actually the backwaters of a river. There is canoeing on the river, with two canoe liveries on two different rivers in the area, so we did go canoeing while we were here through some very wild and beautiful areas. There is a small camp store, fish cleaning stations, and beautiful areas for bike riding and paved roads. Also a small camp store. There are NO organized activities and NO recreation/game room for rain days. Nice big fire rings. Swimming area is a little rocky, but not full of plants and yukky stuff. There is also a Rustic campground that we did not check out. We camped at Northern Exposure Campground in a Tent.

We stayed in the family section for their Haunted Halloween weekend and we loved it. The trick or treating had very sparse participation but the kids with us were really teens anyway so they were not too disappointed. It was fall, and we had almost the entire park to ourselves. We had a wonderful site backed up to some woods and made a roaring fire and made a few snacks, but we opted for the all-you-can eat buffet. We LOVED the food and we had quite a variety of things to choose from. I ate a lot more than usual as we paid for 3 meals a day and it seemed like everytime we turned around it was time to eat again. There were some wildwest shows which were just ok, but I liked the horseback riding as I am a chicken and don't know how, but they found a suitable horse for me to ride...really walk as that was my skill level. The funniest part for me was the halloween activities. We saw a Halloween dinner theatre, and their was a Haunted hay ride that was great along with a spookhouse. If the weather is not too cold, this is a great place to get some last minute camping reservations for the Halloween weekends. We probably should of brought bikes, but didn't. Don't know if it is fun for summer time, but was real fun for the Halloween weekend IF the weather is nice so you can enjoy all the activities. We went with two adults and two teens and loved it. Only thing we did not like was the dogs for sledding did not seem to have adequate shade and care for my taste. I am a dog lover. We paid for all the activities and food in one price so I can't really give a nightly rate but it is pricey...for a splurge. We camped at Double JJ Resort in a Tent Trailer.
