Shenandoah River State Park, Bentonville, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The access road into the campground is very steep and curvy. Be prepared to use a low gear when approaching the campground. There is a nice trail along the river and a beautiful overlook over the river. I am sure there is a trail to the overlook but we drove as it was 1.5 miles and up a very steep hill. We camped at Shenandoah River State Park in a Motorhome.

Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

The staff at check-in was helpful and courteous even though we disagreed on the type of site I had reserved (I later discovered they were correct). The site layout was interesting in that each site alternated in which direction it faced. There is a large area devoted to RV storage and there is some road noise. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Zooland Family Campground, Asheboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are not level and are either dirt or grass. The camper next to us had to use a portion of our site just to get in because of trees that would block his slide outs. Lost water one evening for several hours because of a leak somewhere in the park. Even though the temperatures were pleasent we had to keep our windows closed and AC running because of dust from the camp roads. Our sewer connection was at the same height as our dump valve which made dumping difficult. We camped at Zooland Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Indian Heritage RV Park, Martinsville, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park is conveniently located on 220 business. Power was good as was water pressure but the sewer connections was too far towards the rear of the site for our MH. We were only staying one night so did not connect to the sewer but it would have taken every inch of the sewer hose I carry to reach it. Not all sites are like this so ask before occupying a site. No cable but we could get TV with our antenna. There is some traffic noise but not bad as the road is higher then the park. We camped at Indian Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Camping World RV Sales of Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Gravel site with cement patio, lots of trees. Full hook-ups. Lots of static/snow on cable. Many sites are used by customers that are there to have service done on their RV and in some cases service was being done in the campground. We camped at Camping World RV Sales of Chattanooga in a Motorhome.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are level and have good water and electric connections. But, the sewer connection sticks up out of the ground and was just an inch or two below the level of my rigs holding tanks which made it difficult to drain my tanks. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Lakes State Park, Green Bay, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a typical Virginia State Park. The park is clean and well maintained. It is not, however, geared toward larger RV's. Most sites could handle up to a 30 foot rig. There are 2 small lakes with swimming and small boats. My only complaint was the dump station backed up when I dumped my holding tanks. I could only open my black water valve half way in order to prevent the sewage from backing out of the drain. We camped at Twin Lakes State Park in a Motorhome.

Bear Creek Lake State Park, Cumberland, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The sites at this park are small and not very level. There are only a couple of sites that could handle anything over 30 feet and most could only handle 25 feet. We were OK in our 28 foot MH with toad but we had a good choice of sites as there were not many campers there. We camped at Bear Creek Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Holliday Lake State Park, Appomattox, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located about 5 miles off of Rt 24 down some very narrow roads through the state forest. Just have to take it slow when traffic is coming toward you. Fortunately there isn't much traffic. The campground area is on rolling land and there was little effort to level the sites when they were paved which makes it difficult to level the RV. Our site (#25) was one of the leveler ones but still required us to use several leveling blocks on the rear. One plus is all the trees that provide wondeful shade. The bath house was clean but could use a little touching up with some paint. There is a nice lake for swimming, non-power boating and fishing. We camped at Holliday Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Mayberry Campground, Mount Airy, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has very few trees and so has no shade making it very hot in July. The campsite was fairly level but we did have to use several blocks to raise the rear of our RV. All sites and roads are gravel and are well maintained. Water and power are at the rear of the site and the sewer was in the middle which worked well for us. We camped at Mayberry Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Cherry Hill Park while touring Washington, DC. The park is easy to get to off of 495. They have a Metro bus stop in the park and they offer programs on how to use the bus and subway system. We were with a group which provided tour bus pickup right in the park so did not use the Metro to get into Washington. They offer cable but we just used OTA and got several stations. Since we were with a group we got a discount rate. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

River Plantation RV Park, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is extremely clean and well maintained. The pool was closed for the season but looked like it would be fun when open. We don't have a dog but I found it interesting that there was even a dog wash, for a charge. There is even an RV wash on site. One problem is making the left turn out of the park to get to most of the attractions in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains. Traffic is heavy and there can be a long wait for a break. We camped at River Plantation RV Park in a Motorhome.

There is a pancake restaurant just outside the park that had slow service and not very good pancakes. There is also a small hamburger/hotdog place inside the gas station near the entrance that had a very good hamburger.

Dumplin Valley RV, Kodak, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Good overnight stop just off I-40. Owner is very nice. There is almost no shade so if you use a satellite dish it should be no problem. All sites are grass and require some leveling. Had a problem with the circuit breaker tripping but the owner was quick to replace it. 50 amp sites are limited. Most sites are 30 amp only. The campground is set up mainly for their annual bluegrass festival which is held the middle of September. We camped at Dumplin Valley RV in a Motorhome.

Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA, Broadway, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was a long, level pull through with some shade. All roads are gravel as are the sites. Some sites could use some more gravel but overall not bad. Staff was helpful and friendly. Saw the chickens but they were not a problem. Utilities were good including the cable. Bathrooms and laundry were in good shape. We camped at Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Waynesboro North 340 Campground, Waynesboro, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Overall a good campground. The sites could use some TLC but it appears the owners are taking care of things. The bathhouse was being repainted inside and the grass was trimmed. The sites are in need of some updating. Some leveling and new gravel would help. Some sites have the water and electric on the wrong side as ours did. The sewer was located on the correct side. There is no cable but we could get TV over the air. Satellite may be a problem as there are many trees. The shade was nice as the temperature was in the low 90's. There are many long term residents but they seem to keep their sites neat. We camped at Waynesboro North 340 Campground in a Motorhome.
