The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone, Verona, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Overpriced for the small & unlevel sites. Overall not very impressed for a campground with such good reviews. Park was clean and well maintained. We camped at The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone in a Motorhome.

Wellesley Island State Park, Fineview, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

WI-FI and cellular service may come from Canadian towers. This could cause international charges on your bill. The site we had was very unlevel and extremely tight. Close to several 1000 Island sites. Large campground with sites for all kinds of camping. We camped at Wellesley Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Massena Intl Kampground, Massena, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Clean and well maintained campground. People who run the campground were very friendly and helpful. Very close to Eisenhower locks on the St. Lawrence Seaway. The locks lower or raise approximately 42' for large ships to pass. Sites are grass and level with some shade trees. Laundry room was small but very reasonable ($1.25). We camped at Massena Intl Kampground in a Motorhome.

Clean campground with grass pull-through sites. Tight radius to get out because other sites are close both side and front. Very close to Cooperstown, NY. We camped at Cooperstown KOA in a Motorhome.

North Pole Resorts, Wilmington, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Our campsite was sand and some gravel with a picnic table and lots of shade. It rained a couple of times which made our site very messy. I should have asked for a pull through because most of these had gravel. This is a great location to visit several waterfalls and Lake Placid. We camped at North Pole Resorts in a Motorhome.

Littleton / Lisbon KOA, Littleton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Nice people checked us in and led us to our site. Twice they came down to make sure everything was all right. Campground was quiet, clean and well maintained. Our pull through was gravel, shaded and very level. Water pressure was a little weak. Our MI-FI worked well, however, phone service and 3G was almost non-existent. We camped at Littleton / Lisbon KOA in a Motorhome.

Saco River Camping Area, North Conway, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was done by a young lady who couldn't have cared less. Shower rooms full of mosquitoes but pretty clean. We had a level pull in site on grass. Overall feel of campground and people staying was not welcoming. I would not stay at this campground again. We camped at Saco River Camping Area in a Motorhome.

Pumpkin Patch RV Resort, Hermon, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean park with a great dog walk area. Showers and bathrooms were spotless. Pull thru sites with hook-ups located in the right area. Water pressure was not good. Everything else was really nice. There is a small cafe about 200' from their front gate with good food. We camped at Pumpkin Patch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Smuggler's Den Campground, Southwest Harbor, Maine

Overall Rating:

This is a very clean and well kept park. Staff was friendly and helpful when needed. We stayed on site 92 which is paved, level and had properly placed hook-ups. Easy commute to Acadia National Park and all it's sites. WiFi worked ok, however all the other facilities/hook-ups were great. We camped at Smuggler's Den Campground in a Motorhome.

Wild Acres RV Resort and Campground (formerly NASCAR RV Resorts), Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Site was not level: took several inches of board to level our 40' rig. Sites are dirt/sandy with no rock or grass. However, my biggest complaint is why does a sewer hookup have to run uphill from a unit? Their pipe is up 14" from the ground before you even attach your hose and connector. We camped at Wild Acres RV Resort and Campground (formerly NASCAR RV Resorts) in a Motorhome.

Mill Brook RV Park, Kingston, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in restoration mode. Sites were gravel and close to each other. There are a lot of permanent residents, however all the people were really friendly. The owners are extremely nice and trying very hard to get this camp in shape and are getting close. Our site was level with a new electrical pedestal and water tap. Cable television and WiFi worked great. While we were here (2 days) several plants were placed and lots of leveling done around large tent pavilion with more landscaping. The owners sure are proud of their campground and have good reason to be. We camped at Mill Brook RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wompatuck State Park, Hingham, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park. This is an old park with narrow roads and some low branches. We found several sites that would easily fit our 40' motorhome and toad. Shower water was warm at best and with little pressure. Bathrooms and showers were clean but old and need to be updated. We could not find a ranger to check in for about an hour. He was friendly but it was disorganized. Note there is only 20 amp service. I would stay here again. We camped at Wompatuck State Park in a Motorhome.

Melville Pond Campground, Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Date of Stay: May, 2011 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Be aware this campground is on a street that is literally off the Melville Elementary School parking lot. The street Bradford is directly across from Cindy's Country Cafe. This is a very good place to grab breakfast. Nightly rate reflects full hookups with 30 amp service. Sites are gravel but fairly level. This campground offers one huge advantage and that is the 20 minute drive to the Newport Mansions. The website offers no help in general as to check in and check out times. We arrived at 11:15 and were told check in is at 1:00. When we questioned why the website did not indicate the time the explanation was the City is always changing the site. The receptionist called her boss and got approval for us to go to our site. We camped at Melville Pond Campground in a Motorhome.

Elk Neck State Park, North East, Maryland

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground. Well kept and the Northeast section is great for bigger rigs. One word describes this campground--clean--from the sites to the facilities. In nine months of full timing this is the best park we have stayed at. This is not a RV resort but a great state park. Forest surrounds the area with natural beauty. We camp in a 40' motorhome. We camped at Elk Neck State Park in a Motorhome.

Westmoreland State Park, Montross, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Rustic with several options of camp sites. Sites were everything from large to small, level to not level. Area in general was clean with little in the way of downed branches. The rolling hills and woods around the park were great. This park has a great beach area (dog friendly) with cliffs nearby. We were there when tornado warnings were issued and the rangers came to every site to warn the campers and suggested buildings to go to. The rangers stayed with us and kept us informed of the weather reports until the warning was lifted. This park is located between George Washington's and Robert E. Lee's birthplaces. (approx. 5 miles each way). Shower and restroom were clean but need to be updated. We camped at Westmoreland State Park in a Motorhome.
