Chippokes Plantation State Park, Surry, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground located near Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg and the James River Plantations. Section B has paved sites with picnic tables (big rig friendly). Clean and well maintained area best describes this section. Showers were nice and clean with hot water and separate areas for showering and dressing. Laundry was $1.00 each for washer and dryer. Free ferry is about 10 minutes from campground and takes you to Jamestown. This area has beautiful scenery with winding roads. We camped at Chippokes Plantation State Park in a Motorhome.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was friendly and helpful. Shuttle service to downtown Charleston was great $5.00 per person each way. Sites were level with good water, electric and sewer hook-up. Minor complaint--some sites are buddy sites with your neighbor right on top of you. I was given this kind of site when many single sites were available. A little better planning by the park would be appreciated. The "Best Damn Dog Run" period. I would guess 6 to 8 acres on a lake with several dog areas to the river. Price a little steep considering no cable, however for us and our dog it was worth it. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Park staff was great. Park was very clean from the laundry ($2.00 each per wash & dry), showers and grounds. Cable TV, WIFI, water and electric were all fine. Concrete patio with glider, table and chairs, patio umbrella and chimenea. Dog run was nice but very small. Overall a great park. We camped at New Bern KOA in a Motorhome.

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground. The sites are large and all pull throughs. Peaceful and quiet are the words I would use to describe this CG. Restrooms and showers are older but very clean. Water pressure in the shower was excellent as was the HOT water. Laundry facility is only a washer and dryer with no where to hang up clothes. However it cost only $1.00 each to use. Close to Savannah with good roads and easy access. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Flamingo Lake RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Well kept RV park. Park employees were very friendly and always working to keep the park looking great. Showers and restrooms were very nice as was the laundry facility. Quiet at our location however some sites are near the interstate. WiFi worked very well and cable TV offered many channels. Wal-Mart and Home Depot are about 1/2 mile from CG. We camped at Flamingo Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Deer Creek RV Golf Resort, Davenport, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Snow birds who owned sites at the resort were friendly and helpful. Very little communication as to activities going on at the resort. Resort people as a whole, were not friendly. Document and keep all communication with staff. They use a 30-day system for a month of rental. We booked for a whole month (31 days) and were informed on the 30th by another renter that we were in his site. We paid for another night so our next reservation was not screwed up. Our neighbor found out they too were a day short however, they had paperwork documenting their conversation with the staff and were not charged an extra day. Showers and laundry were nice and clean. Showers had warm water, not hot for the 4 months we were here. Rental sites are short and close to each other and nothing but sand surrounds the concrete pad. Most of the owners who stay on their sites have landscaped. Cable TV was a joke. There are about 12 channels which includes 5 Spanish speaking network. Hookups are well placed and functioned correctly. We camped at Deer Creek RV Golf Resort in a Motorhome.
