We arrived thirty minutes early at the kiosk and were told we would have to turn around and come back a half hour later, no exception. Its a little hard to find a place to park a 37 foot motorhome in Laguna Beach. I did notice during my five day stay that they did turn away about ninety percent of campers who arrived before 3:00 PM, though they let a few in early. I did however speak to campground host who explained to me why the 3 PM check in. Had the young lady working the kiosk explained it to me instead of being so rude I would have understood. In addition to the high rate of $65.00 a night for staying at a state park that was not right on the beach such as Bolsa Chica, the price of $ .75 for a three minute shower was also a little high since most California State parks I stayed in charge $ .25 for 2 1/2 minutes. The road into the park is narrow and you must yeild to on coming traffic, plus roads in the campground are narrow due to the planting of native plants on one side of the road which are already showing signs of being ran over by campers trying to back into their sites. The size of the camp sites were nice and large with a wire cable surrounding each site. The rules say no open camp fires allowed but I did see a couple down below in the tent area.

I do agree with the previous review from Jan 2011 in regards to the male campground host. He can be rude and abrupt at times with campers. On the other hand the female host at the north end of the park welcomes all campers and treats her four month stay at Bolsa Chica as if this is her home. She walks the park each day picking up trash that others leave behind. We have been camping at Bolsa Chica once a month since 2008 and have always enjoyed our stays.

The only thing we didn't like about this park was that there where few camp site with views of the ocean and the hike down to the beach was a little difficult for me and my wife who are in our sixties.
