The park was crowded when we stayed but the sites are adequate. We didn't feel like we were in a parking lot. There are fire rings for most sites. We would have given the park a higher rating if the bathrooms were clean. It didn't seem that daily maintenance was done for three days. (bring your own TP) This park offers many fun activities that are led by the rangers. We liked the bonfire. The local astronomy club gave campers an opportunity to view the stars one night. The playground was wonderful for the kids. Other than the bathrooms being dirty we were very pleased with this state park.

We really enjoyed this state park. The geese living at the lake were very entertaining. There are several walking and bike trails. The packed sand sites are large and shaded. There are wooden picnic tables at each site, but no fire rings or individual garbage cans. Bath facilities are clean and have hot showers. There was nearly no road traffic noise, but occasionally distant muffled military training booms could be heard. This was funny (the army base training sounds) our first night because we thought a thunder storm was approaching...which wouldn't be very fun at all in a pop-up. We look forward to camping here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful state park. The hosts were very friendly and seemed concerned to know if we had what we needed while staying there . We stayed in section one since it was still early in the season and thought the mature trees were lovely (even without leaves). There could be some improvement with the fire rings at each site. We look forward to staying at Cumberland Mountain State Park again in the summer.
