Country Campground, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Best park in all of Minnesota. Owners couldn't be more friendly or helpful. He noticed some branches in the way on our site and immediately came and trimmed everything nicely. Plenty of the grandkids to do. Nice safe environment. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed here last year and liked it. It was even better this year. A little hard to back into but we made it. Our trailer is 40 feet long and is often a bit hard to fit in some spaces.

Pokegama Lake RV Park, Pine City, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of rules but no enforcement. This place fills up on the weekends with party goers. Smokey campfires are encouraged, burning trash is acceptable as are rugs, parking on the grass, barking dogs, fireworks and staying outside late. None of these are "allowed" but nobody is there to enforce them. Pretty quiet on the weekdays. Friendly staff. Some of the lots got very wet with no drainage during storms. Cater to seasonal campers. Rates were very high for what was provided. We have no plans to go back. We camped at Pokegama Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Air Capital RV Park, Wichita, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $48.00

Good for an overnight stay. Concrete bunker style rec room is reassuring during tornado season. While we didn't need it we were glad it is available. We camped at Air Capital RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeside Casino Resort RV Park, Osceola, Iowa

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Last stayed here about 7 years ago. It was a dump then and isn't much better now. Okay for an overnight if you can squeeze into a site. Very tight turns and the pads are too small. Plan to drive over some lawn. Not uncommon when you see all the ruts. Cable tv was good as was the water pressure. Pay at the valet, doubt that anyone checks to see if you pay or not. In a good spot if you are traveling. It's a shame they don't re-do this it could be decent. We camped at Lakeside Casino Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Fe Trail COE, Council Grove, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

After a bad experience with a terrible "host" couple that was unwilling to help us on the other side of the lake we went to the COE and complained. We weren't the first. They suggested we try this campground on the east side of the lake. Host couple there could not have been any nicer. Very helpful, gave us a list of available sites. I would rate this a 10 if it had full hookups. The dump station is a pretty tight squeeze with a big trailer. We had to back out to make the turn to leave but it went well. Beautiful setting! We camped at Santa Fe Trail COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Council Grove is a wonderful small out of the way town. Try the Hays House for a great meal and stop at the Adams Phillips 66 station where they pump the gas for you and wash your windows. Just like they did back in the day. Delightful!

Country Campground, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The nicest and most friendly smaller campground we've ever stayed at. The owners and their family will bend over backwards to help you. Wonderful place for not just for kids but grown ups as well. I can't see how anyone can complain about this place. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

WinStar RV Park, Thackerville, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Nice fairly quiet Casino campground. We had a back in site which was pretty tight. Had to unhitch so our truck wouldn't be out in the street. Will ask for a pull-through if we ever go back. Huge casino but we didn't visit it. Signed up for a players card and got the night free. Not sure if we were supposed to in and validate it or not. Other than cheap meals and cheap campsites I have no use for a casino. We camped at WinStar RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Peach Country RV Park, Stonewall, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly group. Well managed, clean no frills park. Management is very fair and accommodating. This is a rare find where people really care about and look out for each other. Easy drive to Fredericksberg, 2 nice restaurants within walking distance. A few semi permanent residents in nice clean well kept rigs but mostly Winter Texans. Paved streets, gravel sites, concrete patios, some shade. very nice rec building. No complaints here. We camped at Peach Country RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lavaland RV Park, Grants, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice big lighted sign, nice newer office and lounge building as yet unfinished leads you into a dump of a campground. Advertise cable but I was told I would have to share the connection with a neighbor. With only one plug to connect to I wondered how. Take turns for an hour at a time? Several really old small travel trailers parked there with junk all around them. Crowded sites. Many permanent rigs. Not a place I would return to. We camped at Lavaland RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beacon RV Park, Saint Joseph, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Far from the worst place I've stayed at. Older park but not full of junk like many. Concrete parking spots and small patios, not in the best shape but beats going through the mud. This is a suitable place for a night or two. Cable worked good. Reasonably good part of town. Easy to get in and out. Friendly staff. Several long term residents. Not a lot of choices in this area to stay at. This is probably the best one. We camped at Beacon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Grand Marais RV Park & Campground, Grand Marais, Minnesota

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet park. Sites could have been larger. Very busy. Full hookup sites were pretty shop worn. Wi-Fi available in office only. No TV with our antenna but satellite worked fine. Very touristy area and priced accordingly. We got gouged $27.00 for a pizza to go at one local pizza joint, and it wasn't even that good. Take a drive up the Gunflint trail. The scenery is fantastic! We camped at Grand Marais RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
